TAYLOR William, born 1760 in North Carolina, died 1812 in Georgia. He served in theRevolutionary War as a Private (1777) in the North Carolina Troops, 10th Regiment, underColonel Abraham Shepard. He married Mary Billingsley in 1780, who died in 1804.Ref: Roster of Revolutionary War Soldiers in Georgia, Vol. III by McCall.
TENNILLE, Francis Sr., his LWT probated 1779 Prince William Co.Va. m. Margaret and had issue: Joseph, John, Francis, Jr.Benjamin, George, Elizabeth, Charity, Jemima and Mary. Familytraditions says that they were French Hugenots from Picardy, France to Americain early 1700s. Col. Francis, Jr. b. 1747 Prince William Co., Va. d. 1812Washington Co., Ga., Rev. War Soldier, 1st Lt. in 2nd Continental Ga. Battn (Tennille,Ga. named for him) m. 1st, Winifred Pollard, 2nd, Mary B. Dixon. By his firstwife had: William A., Betsy, possibly others. By his 2nd wife had:Robert, Algernon S., Mary, Francis T., probably others. Robert Tennille (1801-1867),son of Col. Francis, Jr. m. Clara Barlow Shehee and had issue: Mary E., Eliza, William A., Martha, Clara Barlow,Polk and Ann. Ref: C. Robert Watkins, 3325 Malatche Dr., Columbus, Ga. 31907 (1968).
TERRELL, William "agriculturist, state legislator, congressman, was born in 1778 in Fairfax county, Va. He was frequently a member of the Georgia legislature; and was a representative in congress from Georgia from 1817 to 1821. In 1853 he made a donation of twenty thousand dollars for the establishment of an agricultural professorship in the university of Georgia, which professorship bears his name. He died July 4, 1855, in Sparta, Ga. Heringshaws Encyclopedia of American Biography a Representative from Georgia; born in Fairfax County, Va., in 1778; moved with his parents to Georgia; pursued classical studies; was graduated from the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia and commenced practice in Sparta, Hancock County, Ga.; member of the State house of representatives 1810-1813; held various local offices; elected as a Democrat to the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Congresses (March 4, 1817-March 3, 1821); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1820; resumed the practice of medicine; died in Sparta, Ga., July 4, 1855; interment in Sparta Cemetery.
