The Young family settled on Duncan's Creek near the Enoree River in Laurens County, South Carolina, about 5 miles from the Newberry/Laurens County line in Clinton and probably came from Ireland and Pennsylvania as so many of the first members of this church did. George Young, Sr. was born 1755, died 13 Oct 1833, buried in the churchyard. Issue:
- Thomas Young, born 1781, died 21 Feb 1824.
- Samuel Young, Major, born 15 Aug 1792, died 8 April 1865.
- William Young, born 19 Feb 1795, died 30 Auh 1868. His wife, Elizabeth, was born 1795, died 2 June 1856. They had five infant children.
- Christopher Young, born 1797, died 22 Nov 1825.
