Wood of Spartanburg County


William Wood died before 1770; he was married to Mary ca 1732. Their son, Penuel Wood Sr. was born ca 1734 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and died ca 1810. Wife, Constance. Known issue: James Wood; Henry Wood (below) and Penuel Wood, Jr.

Henry Wood was b. 12/16/1756 in Granville, North Carolina (now Warren county). Susan Elizabeth Mayfield, his first wife, was born 12/19/1759. They removed to Union County, South Carolina. He was married (2) to Nancy Burns. Henry died 12 June 1842 in Spartanburg, buried Woods Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.Issue:
  1. Isham Jefferson Wood, born 8 October 1845 died 14 June 1922. He was married to Harriet M. Wood (1844-1910).
