Warnock of Anderson County


John Warnock, son of Joseph Warnock, was born 1757 in Antrim, Ireland and came to America in 1774 when he was seventeen years old; landed in Delaware. He served as a Revolutionary War Soldier. He was married on 6/21/1786 in Abbeville County to Elenor Dowdle (9/3/1767-9/11/1850), a daughter of Robert Dowdle. John Warnock died 5/28/1842. His widow, Eleanor, applied for his pension on 2/10/1845 at the age of 77, then a resident of York District. Eleanor died 9/11/1850 in Belton, Anderson County, South Carolina. The deed records of John Warnock are found in Pendleton County. Issue: (all born in Anderson County)

Pendleton District Deed Bk A, pp. 295-297. 12 Apr 1791, William and Anne Lesly of Abbeville County to John Warnock of Pendleton County for 60 pds., 200 acres (granted 10/15/1784), being on the waters of Great Rocky Creek.

Pendleton Deed Bk B, page 207. 24 May 1793. Andrew Warnock, planter of Pendleton County to John Warnock of same for 10 pds., 331 acres surveyed by James Dogherty on 3/3/1786 and granted said Hugh Warnock on 3/3/1786, being on Broadaway of the Savannah River and bounded by the lands of Hugh Warnock. Wit: Joseph Warnock, Michael Warnock, Samuel Warnock.
