Surrency


Samuel D. Surrency, son of Samuel, Revolutionary War Soldier, and his wife, Elizabeth Stafford, was born 1792 in Cheraw Dist., S. C. His grandfathers were Samuel Surrency, emigrant, and Joshua Stafford, Revolutionary War Soldier. Samuel D. grew up in Barnwell Dist., S. C., coming with his parents to Liberty Co., then to Tattnall Co., Georgia. Samuel died 2/16/1866 and is buried in the old homeplace near old Lane's Bridge, about 2 miles from old Stafford's Ferry across the Altamaha River. Samuel married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Copeland, born 1795 S. C., daughter of Aaron Copeland, Revolutionary War Soldier. She died in 1842. The second wife was Elizabeth Kennedy, who he married on 4/18/1844 in Tattnall County. Fifteen children were had by the first wife, eight by the second wife. Issue:
