Slappey of Orangeburg County
Hans George Slappey of the Hoenstauffen Dynasty was born ca 1725, came from Holland to Orangeburg County in 1748. His brother, Henry Slappey, resided iN Twiggs and Pulaski Counties, Georgia; grave was marked by the D. A. R. in Monticello, Georgia. Hans George Slappey was married three times. The diary of Father Giessendammer shows that Hans George Schlappy married Magdalene Huber. His second wife was Miss Class; third wife was Barbary Hiley (widow Lee), a sister of Jacob Hiley of the Revolutionary War. He had six children, two by each marriage. By Magadalene, he had John and Barbara. By Miss Class he had Jacob and Nancy. By third wife he had Reuben and Uriah. Issue:
- John Slappey has eight children, viz: John, Alex, William, Frederick, Washington, Henry, Henrietta, Elizabeth, residents of Sumter County and South Georgia.

- Jacob Class Slappey married Elizabeth Hiley. Issue: George Hiley Slappey married Nancy Ball; William Slappey married Laura Lamar; Jasper Slappey married Susan Murph; Thomas Slappey.
- Nancy Slappey married John Snyder.
- Reuben Slappey married (1) Matilda Wolfe (2) Mary King. Issue by second wife, viz: Reuben Slappey, buried in the Fort Valley Cemetery; Elizabeth Slappey married John Lilly.
- Uriah Slappey married his first cousin, Mary Hiley.
