Thomas Ramsey Sr. was born 14 July 1750 in York County, Pennsylvania and died after 1832 in Henry County, Georgia. He resided for sometime in Abbeville County (old Pendleton District) before removing to Jackson County, Georgia and finally to Henry County. Thomas Ramsey Sr. was a Revolutionary War Soldier, Pension S31922, service in South Carolina. He applied from Henry County, Georgia on 18 Nov 1832, aged 82 years, stating that he served in the militia in South Carolina (now Abbeville County). Land Grants: John Ramsey 400 acres on Kerrs Creek 14 Jul 1766; Samuel Ramsey, 100 acres on 96 Creek, 21 June 1762; and Samuel Ramsey, 150 acres on 96 Creek on 4 February 1765. The last transaction for Alexander Ramsey (son of Thomas Sr.) in old Pendleton District was dated 17 No 1794, of Alexander Ramsey and Mary, his wife, to William Dickson of Newberry County for 40 pounds, 200 acres northwest of the Chauga Creek of the Rugalo River (formerly in the 96th district but now in Washington District, South Carolina) bounded by William McCaleb, which was granted Ramsey on 2 Mar 1789.
John Ramsey Land Grant
On 19 September 1796 (probated 27 Mar 1797) Mary Buchanan of Abbeville County named her grandson, Henry Givens Ramsey (son of Thomas Ramsey Sr.) in her last will and testament. The named heirs were her children, Henry Buchanan, Margaret Buchanon and Mary McMillan, wife of James McMillan. Witnesses were Thomas and John Ramsey. Therefore, she had a daughter who married Thomas Ramsey.
The home in Abbeville was located on the Tugaloo River (now Lake Hartwell) on the Chauga River. Issue:

- James Harvey Ramsey married Polly Brazil 7 Oct 1811 in Jasper County, Georgia.
- Henry Givens Ramsey died intestate 1814 in Jackson County, Georgia.
- Elizabeth Ramsey married Mr. Smith.
- Mary Ramsey died 1841 in Henry County, Georgia (date of her last will and testament).
- George Ramsey married Sally Cornwell 25 Dec 1809.
- John Ramsey.
- Thomas Ramsey, Jr., born 14 Feb 1789 in Abbeville County, died 20 Dec 1827, married Susannah Lynn on 26 Jul 1810 in Jasper County, Georgia.
- Margaret Ramsey, born 1792 in Abbeville County, died 1857 in Jasper County, Georgia, married Henry J. Holland, born 14 Nov 1788 in Nansemond County, Virginia, died 1823 in Jasper County, Georgia. Their daughter was Susannah Fulton, born 1814 in Virginia, listed on the 1850 Jasper County, Georgia Census.
