LOVE of Abbeville District, South Carolina
William Love died in Abbeville District, South Carolina, his
estate being administered on 27 March 1797 (South Carolina Archives, Box 55, Pack 1313),
by Sarah Love, widow, Jeremiah McWhorter and Aaron McWhorter, who were bound over to the judges of Abbeville District.
An inventory of the estate was made on 31 May 1797 by General
John Norwood, John Miller, John Carrick. Sale of the estate
occurred on 15 August 1797, and purchasers from that sale we:
Sarah Love, James Love, Jr., Zediah Woods and Joseph Pratt.
William Love served in the American Revolution, from South Carolina, and was
a Lieutenant in the 3rd Regiment (resigned 1777).
Abbeville District is close to the Georgia Line. Because of his
service, on 11 June 1784, William Love of 96th District, South
Carolina, received a land grant of 300 acres on the Savannah River. (Plat Book A,
96th District). Another grant was dated 11 September 1794, "William
Love, citizen", 150 acres adj. land owned by himself.
John Love died 1791, his estate being administered on 4 January
1791 Abbeville District, South Carolina (Box 55, Pack 1306) by
Elizabeth Love, widow, James Love, John Caldwell and William Lesly.
William Hutton was bound over to the Judges of Abbeville District. Inventory
dated 4 February 1791 by Moses Davis, William McKinley, William
Harris, William Love. Purchasers: Elizabeth, James, Charles and
James Love, Sr., Thomas Cook, James Caldwell, Alexander Davis, Joseph
Lemaster, Samuel Black, William Barnes, William Harris, David McClesky,
Robert Bell, John Caldwell and William Pickens.
