Ralph Izard (1660-1699), Citizen and Grocer of London, according to his Last Will and Testament probated 8/11/1699 in London, married Elizabeth Pryor of Baldock, Surrey. They had four known children, John, Ealph, Benjamin and Dorothy. Issue:
  • John Izard married Mary. His Last Will and Testament probated 4/13/1706 provided his occupation as Citizen and Salter of London.
  • Ralph Izard, planter, was born in England and died 1711 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He removed to Charleston, South Carolina on 10/3/1682 and settled in St. James Parish; Justice of the Peace; Member of House of Representatives; President of Indian Commission. His Last Will and Testament was probated on 1/24/1711 in Charleston. He was married 1st to Mary Middleton, widow of Arthur Middleton of Middleton Place (her Last Will and Testament probated 7/26/1700), and 2d, Dorothy Smith, widow of Christopher Smith. Issue:

    Ralph Izard (1688-1743). He was born and died at "The Elms Plantation" in Charleston, his Last Will and Testament dated 12/9/1743. He inherited the large estates of his father in South Carolina; served as Attorney General in 1737. He was married to Magdalene Elizabeth Chastaigner, daughter of Alexandre Thesee Chastaigner (her Last Will and Testament probated 12/12/1746). Issue:

    Henry Izard, born ca 1717 in South Carolina, died 1749, married 1st 9/26/1739, a daughter of Governor Robert Johnson of South Carolina, Margaret Johnson (died 6/12/1743), 2d, Charlotte Broughton of Mulberry (died 8/10/1801). He was Commissioner of Taxes in 1738; member of House of Representatives 1742-1748.Issue by 1st marriage:
    1. Ralph Izard, born 1/23/1742 near Charleston, died 5/30/1804, married 1st, 5/1767, Alice De Lancey. He was educated in England; graduated from Cambridge University; appointed US Commissioner at the Court of the Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1776; Delegate to Continental Congress 1782-3; US Senator from South Carolina 1789-1796. Issue:
      1-Margaret Izard 2/12/1768-5/3/1824 married 1st, 5/1785, Gabriel Manigault of Charleston.
      2- Elizabeth Izard, born 2/22/1769, died infancy.
      3- Charlotte Izard 2/16/1770-1/8/1792 married 5/1/1786 Hon. William Loughton Smith, US Minister to Spain.
      4- Henry Izard, born 5/15/1771, died 12/30/1826, married 1st on 6/1/1795, Emma Philadelphia Middleton and 2d, Claudia Smith. He was a Member of the House of Representatives from 1800-1802 and from 1821-1826; Member of the Senate in 1807.Issue by 1st marriage:
      a. Henry Izard, born 5/12/1796, died infancy.
      b. Henry Izard, born 8/6/1797, died infancy.
      c. Mary Izard 11/7/1798-9/29/1833 married Thomas Middleton of Charleston.
      d. Walter Izard, born 5/6/1800, died young.
      e. Alice Izard 3/2/1802-1863 married 1/6/1824 Joseph Heyward.
      f. Walter Izard, born 8/7/1804, died 1835 in Charleston, South Carolina, married 10/10/1827, Mary Cadwallader Green of Rose Hill. Issue: Walter Izard, born at Rose Hill near Landsford, South Carolina on 9/28/1828, married 10/22/1853, Sallie Goode, daughter of John Goode (Issue: John Izard 8/17/1856-11/22/1899 married Roberta Johnson; Lucy Izard 7/31/1858-4/30/1874, unmarried; Ralph Izard, born 3/9/18740; Henry Izard, born 5/29/1830, died infancy; and Henry Izard of Meridan, Mississippi, 9/25/1831-4/28/1899, married Laura Lipscomb.
      g. Eliza Caroline Izard 1/18/1808-1823, unmarried.
      h. Margaret Emma Izard 8/3/1811-7/18/1836, married 1/18/1832, Hon. Nathaniel Russell Middleton, LL.D.
      i. Martha Izard, born 4/18/1813, died infancy.
      5- Ralph Izard, born 8/5/1772 in London, died infancy.
      6- Charles Izard, born 9/15/1773 in London, died 7/19/1784.
      7- George Izard, born 10/21/1776 in England, died 11/22/1828 in Arkansas, married 6/6/1803 Elizabeth Carter (Farley) Shippen. He was Colonel of the2d Artillery in the War of 1812; Brigadier General in 1813; Major-General in 1814; Governor of Arkansas Territory from 1825-1828.
      8- Elizabeth Izard 10/11/1777-11/1/1784.
      9- Anne Izard 2/1/1779-1863 married Hon. William Allen Deas.10- Ralph Izard, born 2/26/1785 in Charleston, South Carolina, died 8/6/1824, married 1st in 1808, Elizabeth Middleton.
      11- Caroline Izard, born 9/24/1786, died infancy.
      12- Charlotte Georgina Izard 9/16/1792-9/15/1832, married 5/1/1809, Joseph Allen Smith.
    2. Margaret Izard married in 1759 Hon. Daniel Blake.Issue by 2d marriage:
    3. Nathaniel Izard, born 6/29/1746, died infancy.
    4. Charlotte Izard, born 8/15/1747, died infancy.
    Charles Izard, born 1/11/1719, married 10/7/1742, Mary Izard, daughter of Walter Izard. She married 2d on 3/4/1746, Thomas Broughton, her Last Will and Testament proved 7/16/1744.
