Hooper of Greenville County



Richard Brooks Hooper and his wife, Elizabeth Adams were from Halifax County, Virginia before removing to Greenville County, South Carolina after the Revolutionary War. Issue:
  • John Hooper, born 15 Jul 1786.
  • Matthew Hooper, born 18 Feb 1788.
  • Jesse Carter Hooper (1791-1876), below.
  • James Adams Hooper, born 7 April 1798.
  • Amelia U. Hooper, born 17 Jul 1799.
Jesse Carter Hooper, born 18 Dec 1791 in Greenville County, died 1786, married Mary Sparks on 3 Nov 1816 in Franklin County, Georgia. Jesse served as a soldier in the War of 1812 and drew a pension while a resident of Whitfield County, Georgia. After the war he was a carpenter and farmer. Issue:
  1. Elizabeth A. Hooper.
  2. John W. Hooper, born 1828/1829.
  3. James Adams Hooper, born Mar 1833, married 8 Oct 1867 in Whitfield County, Georgia Mrs. Sarah Jane Bailey Spruce and by her had three children, viz: John C. Hooper, Mary Elizabeth Hooper, born 12 Sept 1868 and Ora B. Hooper.
  4. Mary Ann Hooper, born ca 1837, crippled.
  5. William J. Hooper, born ca 1838/1839 married 2 Jan 1866 in Gordon Couty, Georgia, Sarah M. Holmes.
  6. Monroe Hooper, born 1841 in Georgia, married on 24 Sept 1865 in Gordon County, Georgia, Eliza Borders..
