Holland of Anderson County
The progenitor of the Holland family in Anderson County, South Carolina was Jacob Holland who was born ca 1750 in Nansemond County, Virginia, and died 10/17/1815 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. Jacob was married to Dolly Harrison. Jacob served in the House of Representatives from Franklin County, Georgia in 1789 (now in Pendleton District). He made a series of gift deeds to his children. Issue:
- Benjamin Holland, born 1771 in Nansemond County, Virginia, died 10/16/1816 in Anderson County. Wife, Peggy. Issue: Polly, Rutha, Thomas, Sally, John Shannon and Jacob Holland.
- Hugh Holland, born 1772 in Nansemond County, Virginia.
- Jacob Holland, Jr., born 1774 in Nansemond County, Virginia. Wife, Betsy. Listed on 1810 Isle of Wight County, Virginia Census having a daughter born 1800/1810.
- Elijah Holland, born 1776 in Nansemond County, Virginia.
- Archibald Holland, born 1778 in Nansemond County, Virginia, died 1848 in Cherokee County, Georgia. He was listed on the 1820 Jasper County, Georgia Census. His estate appraised 9/8/1848 in Cherokee County, return of Jacob Holland, executor, 9/15/1858. Cash paid to Elisha and William Holland. Issue: Jacob, John, Harris, Isaiah, Nancy, Franky and Cassey of Cherokee County, Georgia.
- John Holland, born 1780 in Nansemond County, Virginia. Wife, Patsy.
- Margaret Holland, born 1782 in Nansemond County, Virginia, married Colonel Benjamin Cleveland, son of Absalom Cleveland. Cleveland's LWT dated 1830 in Pickens County, South Carolina; executors were Robert, Peggy and Jacob Holland.
- Mary Holland, born 1784 in Nansemond County, Virginia, married Allen Guest.
- Rebecca Holland, born 1786 in Nansemond County, Virginia, married Caleb Field.
- Robert Holland, born 9/20/1788 in Nansemond County, married Sarah Jones (12/7/1789-11/12/1853) the daughter of Lewis and Charity Jones.
Issue:
- Jincey Holland, born 12/1/1808 in Anderson, South Carolina, died after 2/6/1856, married Thomas Harrison (born 1800).
- Benjamin Holland, born 1/3/1810 in Anderson, South Carolina, died 7/22/1905 in Maysville, Georgia, buried in his brother's cemetery (James Harrison Holland) in Ridgeway community, Banks County, Georgia. He was married (1) to Lucinda Harris (2) on 3/19/1846 to Elizabeth Cauthan of Madison County, Georgia who did not live long (3) his first wife's sister, another Miss Harris (4) on 8/7/1850 Mahuldah Scott (9/26/1813-7/20/1871), daughter of Jane Millican (born 1778) and John Scott (born 1781). At one time Benjamin was very wealthy but lost his fortune during the Reconstruction period after the War Between the States. All of his sons served in the Confederate army, one was killed and one wounded.

- Jacob Foster Holland, born 2/5/1824 married Nancy Higley.
- James Harrison Holland, born 1/17/1826 married Susan E. Griffith.
- Elizabeth Ann Holland, born 1/7/1828, married James Latner.
- Sarah Ann Holland, born 6/11/1830 married Joseph Maret.
- Nevels Hayne Holland, born 3/11/1832 married Fannie Harris.
