He was married to Anna Owens, born 1751, died 30 Nov 1821 in Pickens County, South Carolina, buried in the Hallum Cemetery.

Pickens Distrifct. 13 June 1836 between Jeremiah Field and John Couch both of said district for the sum of thirteen hundred and eighty dollars paid by John Couch a tract of land containing four hundred and sixty acres lying on Georges Creek waters of Saluda River bound by land of Richard Hallums and John Field, it being part of a tract of land granted to John Boyd the elder as laid off in division between John Hallums deceased and William Hallums.
