Gibbons of Charleston
Joseph Gibbons of Wadmalaw Island, Colleton County established a substantial plantation near Charleston. He was married to Hannah (Ann) Martin, a sister of Barak and James Martin. When he died in 1752, he divided his estate between his three sons and daughter, Mary Weatherly. Issue:John and Joseph Gibbons removed to Chatham and Liberty Counties, Georgia. John died before 1771 in Savannah and owned 500 acres on the Newport River. William Gibbons established a plantation along the back Savannah River which he called Mulberry Hill and left to his son, William.
