Gendron of Charleston, South Carolina
Philip Gendron was one of the first French Protestants to emigrate to Charleston, South Carolina about 1685 and settled on the Santee River. Philip was born 1658 in Marow Chaple in France died ca 1724 in Charleston. He was married to Magdalen Chardon or Magdaleine Pasquereau 1689 in (then) Craven County, South Carolina. Issue:
- John Gendron, born 12 Oct 1690, died 1754. He was married in 1718 in Charleston to Elizabeth Mazyrck of Charleston, born 8 Aug 1698, St. Philip's Parish, Charleston.
- Magdalen Gendron, born 13 Oct 1691, died 1765, Mr. Prioleau.
- Elizabeth Gendron, born 14 Oct 1692, died 1740, married Mr. Huger.
- Marian Charlotte Gendron, born 21 Feb 1694/5, died 1769 married Mr. Porcher.
“On Thursday last died, Mrs. Marion Charlotte Porcher, the last of six children left by Mr. Gendron, one of the first French Protestants that arrived and settled at Santee, in this Province, about the year 1685, and who died about the year 1725. The following is an account of their Births, Deaths and Ages:”
- Jane Gendron, born 19 May 1696, died 1769, married Paul Douxsaint.
“The same day died Mr. Paul Douxsaint, much respected while in life, and now and as much lamented, as he had ever distinguished himself the most affectionate husband, indulgent parent, kindest master, and sincerest friend. Monday, September 27, 1742. ”
- Catharine-Henrietta Gendron, born 12 April 1696, died 1764, married Colonel Thomas Cordes.
“...died Mrs. Catharine Cordes, relict of the late Col. Thomas Cordes, aged 64. September 6, 1764.”
