Dodd of Union County


William Dodd was born ca 1709 in Prince William County (now Fairfax County), Virginia. He and his wife, Catherine, had four sons and three daughters.

One son was Jesse Dodd, born 1747, died ca 1800 in Union County, South Carolina, married Mary Bobo of Union County on 1 April 1771. He served as a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War.

Jesse Dodd, son of Jesse, was born ca 1774 in Union County, South Carolina, married Frances Glen, born 1785 in Chester County, South Carolina. Jesse Dodd died 1857.

Jesse Dodd, son of (above) Jesse, was born 17 July 1811 in Union County, South Carolina, married Jane Waters (born 1813 in Spartanburg, South Carolina). He inherited considerable land from his father.

Richard Hayne Dodd, son of Jesse Dodd (above), was born 24 Dec 1834, died 24 Dec 1910 in Union County, South Carolina, married Frances Elizabeth Gore. Botth were buried in the Euharlie Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Euharlie, Georgia. Richard Dodd built and sponsored a rural one-room school house in the area. He had ten children.

Simpson Gregory Dodd, son of Richard Hayne Dodd, was born 3 Oct 1861, fied 16 Dec 1931. He was married to Irene Matilda Black on 20 Dec 1887. They removed to Menlow, georgia in 1919, on Alfred Road.
