Brailsford of Charleston

Morton, and had issue: Edward Brailsford; John Brailsford; Joseph Brailsford; Morton Brailsford; and Samuel Brailsford.
Morton Brailsford was married on 25 Sept 1753 in Berkeley County, South Carolina to
Mary Stanyarne. “...November 1, 1760 died Morton Brailsford, Esq., controller of the country duties for the port of
Charles-Town.”
Samuel Brailsford was born 1728 in Charleston, South Carolina and died 26 June 1800 in Charleston. He was married on 7 April 1750 in St. Philips Parish in
Charleston to Elizabeth Holmes.
William Brailsford, the son of Samuel Brailsford and his wife, Elizabeth (Holmes) Brailford, was born 1767 in
Charleston, South Carolina and died 8 April 1837 in Darien, McIntosh County, Georgia. He was married to Maria Heyward,
born 1769, died 3 April 1837 in Darien, buried on the old Baillie Plantation in Eulonia.
He established a rice plantation located on Hwy 17 near Darien, which he called
Brailsford,
later renamed
Broadfield, which he left to his daughter, Camilla. Camilla was born 1804 and died 9 September 1847 at Baisdens Bluff. She was married to Dr. James Troup (born 1785, died 25 April 1849 at
Broadfield. They had issue:
- Samuel Brailsford, born 1792 in McIntosh County, Georgia.
- Ophelia Troup, married George Dent, born 1833 in South Carolina. They resided at Broadfield plantation.
Ophelia died before 1880. Issue:
- George Troup Dent, born 15 September 1850, died 7 weeks old.
- Frederick Preble Troup, born 15 September 1850, died 10 weeks old.
- Charles M. Dent died aged 17 months, 15 days.
- James Dent, born 1849 in South Carolina.
- Brailsford Dent, born 1857 in South Carolina.
- Reginald Dent, born 1859 in South Carolina.
- Sidney Dent, born 1861 in McIntosh County. He worked as a clerk in a store.
