James John Alexander was married to Rachel Davison. His Last Willand Testament was dated 1779 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina; it named his wife, Rachel, and Moses Alexander

James Alexander, the son of James John Alexander and Rachel Davidson Alexander, was born 23 December 1756 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on Buffalo Creek. He was a Revolutionary War Soldier, fought in North Carolina, was married to Rhoda Cunningham on 19 Mar 1782 in Allison's Creek, York District, South Carolina on Allison Creek. Rhoda (born 15 Oct 1763) was the daughter of Humphrey Cunningham. He must have returned to North Carolina at some point because he was buried in the Piney Grove Cemetery, Swannanoa in Buncombe County. Family Record:
