Salter of the Cape Fear River

Sir Nicholas Salter contributed funds and helped to establish the first permanent English settlement in Jameston in 1607. Descendants of this family settled in North Carolina, one branch locating in Beaufort and Hyde Counties and another branch in Bladen County on the Cape Fear River.
