Ricks of Edgecombe County, North Carolina

The Ricks family originated in Norfolk County, England. Isaac Ricks, Quaker, came to Virginia. He was a clerk at the Friends Meetings and died 2 Jan 1723, aged 85 years. Wife, Kathereen, died Oct 1717. Issue:

• Isaac Ricks, born 17 June 1669, died in Edgecombe County, North Carolina in 1748 where he left a will. He was married to Sarah, a daughter of Barnaby McKinnie and wife, Mary, daughter of Jeremiah Exum. Issue:
  1. William Ricks, born 15 Jul 1698, died Halifax County, North Carolina. Wife, Sarah, left her will in 1778.
  2. Isaac Ricks, born 27 Dec 1702, married Sarah Burke, resided in Edgecombe County on Rocky Mount. Died ca 1760. Issue:

     1. James Ricks, born ca 1730, married Mary Crudup, daughter of Mourning Dixon and John Crudup in Edgecombe County, North Carolina on 23 Jul 1762. He married secnd, Phoebe Horn. His last will and testament was 13 Mar 1792.
