Reid of North Carolina
Alexander Reid and his wife, Margaret McCay, left North Ireland in 1745 and landed at Philadelphia. He settled first in Lancaster County, then went through the Blue Ridge Mountains with other Scotch-Irish to settled near the Yadkin River in Rowan County, North Carolina where he died in 1775. Issue:
- Samuel Reid, born 1728 in Ireland, Revolutionary War Soldier.
- Alexander Reid, Jr.
- Andrew Reid.
- John Reid.
- George Reid, Revolutionary War Soldier, captain; continental commissioner of accounts for South Carolina and Georgia in 1789; justice of the peace in Greene County, Georgia (now Hancock) in 1788. Died 1799 in Greene County, Georgia.
- Frances Reid married Mr. Hill.
- Hannah Reid married Mr. Knox.
Samuel Reid (above) died 1784 in Rowan County, North Carolina leaving a LWT naming his children, viz: Samuel, Alexander, John and Andrew. Wife, Agnes. Daughters, Mary Reid Hall; Margaret Reid Jean Reid; Agnes Reid and Sarah Reid.
