(4) Elisha PERKINS, (Richard) was born 9 Jun 1697 in Swan Creek, St. George Par., Harford Co., Maryland, and married 1 Dec 1718 in St. George Par., Harford Co., Maryland, (25) Margaret SHERRILL, daughter of William SHERRILL and Margaret RUDISIL, who was born 1701 in Cecil Co., Maryland. Elisha died May 1742 in Orange Co., Virginia. Margaret died after 1745 in Orange Co., Virginia.

He owned land near Lapidum, having patent dated 12-3-1719 for a tract called "Elisha's Lot", containing 50 acres, on Susquehanna River (now York Co., Pa.), which he sold to John Cooper 1-29-1721. 4-8-1721, Baltimore Co. Court Proceeding, his mother, Mary Belcher, made clemency for her son, Elisha, accused of stealing a horse from John Baldwin.

Deed Book B, page 117, Spotsylvania Co., Va., Elisha Perkins purchased 470 acres of land from Francis Kirtley and wife, Frances, dated 4-6-1731. This land was sold to Thomas Wright Belfield 10-7-1734, Deed Book C, page 136.

LWT of Elisha Perkins 9-10-1741 Orange Co., Va., probated 5-27-1742 wherein he named his six children: Ute, John, Elisha, ELiza, Phillis, Marget, Joshua. Will Book 1, page 207, Orange Co., Va.

Baltimore Co., Md. Deeds between William and Richard Perkins stated that Elisha Perkins, now decd, 11-28-1741 (Deed Book TBA, p. 123-131).

Margaret Sherrill, dau. of William Sherrill, had various legal proceedings in Orange Co., Va., Book 1, page 243, 300,316,329 and Order Book 3, pages 292 and 477, Order Book 4, page 104, 232,253. The Grand Jury found that Ch Hoomes lived in adultry with the wife of Elisha Perkins in St. Marks Parish; that Elisha Perkins was brought into court and accused of barbarously using his wife, Margery, who had sworn peace against him, wherein Margaret Perkins asked for separate alimony against her husband (dismissed).

Another case, Margaret Perkins, alias Sherrill, a bastard child in St. Mark's Parish (case dismissed). Also, other complaints ensued stating that Margaret Perkins disturbed the peace, for which, onn 1-26-1745 the Grand Jury sentenced her to jail for one year, but 3-28-1745 she was set free by the Sheriff.

The LWT of CHristopher Hoomes dated 5-28-1780, probated 2-21-1785 in Culpepper Co., Va. gave to William Sherrill, son of Margaret Sherrill, alias Margery Perkins, the tract of land whereon Christopher Hoomes lived.

The other two Hupp brothers were indian fighters, so they invited the indians to ride along with them, after which the indians left again.

"The Perkins came from Greene Co., Pa. They lived near a high hill which served as a watershed. The streams on the east side flow into Ten Mile Creek and then into the Monongahala and on to the Ohio. The streams on the west side flow into Big Wheeling Creek only a few miles north of the mouth of Captina..."
