Paine/Payne of Caswell County


James Paine died in Caswell County before the conclusion of the Revolutionary War, his Last Will and Testament dated December 1783. He named his sons, viz: William, Robert, James and John. The spelling of the name must have changed at some point to Payne.

Robert Payne was granted by the State of North Carolina No. 396) 400 acres on Wolf Island Creek on 13 Oct 1783.
