Paulk of Jefferson & Wilkinson Counties


Jonathan Paulk was born ca 1730 and died intestate in Jefferson County, Georgia. Elizabeth, his wife, was appointed administratrix on 4 April 1799. The LWT of Jonathan Paulk was dated 6 April 1799, Jefferson County Will Book I, pp. 67-68 (not a LWT, but note that he did die intestate). John Paul, son of Jonathan, was born ca 1760, and died 1824 in Wilkinson County. He served as a Revolutionary War Soldier, and was listed on page 389 of Georgia Roster of the Revolution by Knight as being on the certified list of Georgia Troops. He appeared on the 1820 Wilkinson County Census. His LWT dated 24 June 1823, probated 14 September 1824 in Wilkinson County. Wife, Catherine. Issue:[1]

  2. Edny Paulk, born 1 January 1816 Wilkinson County, died 9 September 1885 in Wilkinson County. She married William A. Hall on 21 January 1836.
  3. Polly Ann Paulk married William Childers.
  4. Martha Ann Paul, born 1832, married Andrew William (born 1829), listed on the 1860 Wilkinson County Census.
  5. Nancy Ann Missouri Paul, born 1855, married William Hooks (born 1838), a son of Daniel Hooks.
  6. Sophia Paulk married Oren Nash.
  7. James Ross Paulk, born 1842.
