Knox of Pitt County, North Carolina


Reddick Knox was born 1790 in Pitt County. He was married in 1810 probably in Wayne County, Georgia to Ruhama Taylor. The Knox family was of Welsh and Scotch ancestry. Reddick came to Georgia in 1826 with his wife and three children where they resided for two years before returning to North Carolina. They did not return to Georgia again until 1830. Reddick died on the family farm in Wayne County in 1850. Known issue:

James Knox born 12 October 1831 in Wayne County, Georgia (now Brantley County). He served as a captain during the War Between the States in Co. D, 26th Georgia Volunteer Infantry, fighting in Virginia. In 1879 Captain Knox moved his family to Waycross, Georgia. He was married to Mary Jane Jones from Pierce County and by her had nine children.
