Jordan of Buncombe and Transylvania Counties


Thomas Jordan Jr. was born 1749 in Cevil County, Maryland, died 4 April 1809 in Buncombe County, married in 1770 Susan Patterson, born 1752 in Maryland, died 1825 in Buncombe County. During the Revolutionary War he was a resident of Watauga Valley in Tennessee. After about 1791 Thomas Jordan left the Watauga Valley and purchased land on Dunn's Creek in Transylvania County. Issue:

  • Brittain Jordan, born 1771, removed to Georgia.
  • Joseph Jordan, born 1773, died 1846 in Davidson River, North Carolina, married Hannah Davis.
  • Thomas Jordan, born 1775.
  • Robert Jordan, born 1777.
  • Matilda Jordan, born 1779, married James Brittain.
  • Alexander Jordan, born 1781.
  • Susan Jordan, born 1783.
  • Archibald Jordan, born 1785, died near Dunn, North Carolina. Wife, Catherine.

Joseph Jordan, son of Thomas (1773-1846), married Hannah Davis and had issue:
  1. Sarah Jordan married William Duckworth.
  2. Thomas P. Jordan.
  3. Elizabeth Jordan married G. W. Galloway.
  4. Martha Jordan married John Hightower.
  5. William R. Jodan.
  6. Eliza Jordan married Noah Henry.
  7. Hulda Jordan married James Orr.
  8. Joseph P. Jordan died in 1861 during the Civil War.
  9. Susannah Jordan.
  10. Rebecca Jordan.
  11. Decatur Jordan.
