William Jordan


Lieutenant William Jordan b. 3/31/1744 Richmond, N. C., d. 9/23/1826 Warren Co., Ga. M. 1786 in Virginia, Ann Medlock, b. 3/17/1759 Va., d. 11/29/1817 Warren Co., Ga., daughter of Charles and Agatha Medlock. Buried near Warrenton, Ga. Near their home which was built in 1794 (was in a good state of preservation in 1906). The home was remembered by his great-granddaughter, Theo M. Jordan (Mrs. J. F. Wood) as a two-story building constructed of logs and having an immense fireplace. Lt. William Jordan was wounded in the thigh with a musket ball by the Tories; released from prison at Wilmington, N. C. When Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, Va. On 10/19/1781. Military service was under Gen. Nathaniel Greene.

    D. Ira Thomas Jordan was b. 1/9/1819 Jones Co., Ga., d. 11/8/1888 in Midway, AL, m. (1st) Mary Temperance Feagin, daughter of Thomas Feagin and Temperance Wilson, b. 2/22/1824, d. 9/22/1868 Midway, AL. They are buried in the cemetery next to the Baptist Church in Miday. He m. 2nd, Missouri E. Feagin, sister to his first wife, and had no issue.

She was b. 10/31/1853 Milltown, Chambers Co., AL., d. 9/14/1876 at Brundidge, AL. Their only child: Walter Carlisle Jordan was b. 9/3/1876 Brundidge, AL. Walter m. 2nd, Lilla Green Carlisle, daughter of Green Whatley Carlisle and Mary Elizabeth Leverett, buried Brundidge, AL.
