Denson of Nansemond County, Virginia and Franklin County, North Carolina
In 1657 William Denson, gentleman, patented 400 acres of land in Nansemond County on the Western Branch. He was a Quaker and his family records are found there. William Denson was a Burgess in Nansemond County in 1659. Issue:
- Francis Denson, born 1 Dec 1651.
- William Denson, born 25 Nov 1653, married 12 Dec 1723 Amy Small, a daughter of Benjamin Small, the Chief Justice of the Nansemond Court in 1687. Issue:
- William Denson, born 20 Dec 1732, died 22 May 1781 in Franklin County, North Carolina, served in the American Revolution. He was married to Rebecca Eley, born 1 June 1741, died 23 April 1788, the daughter of John Eley, Justice of the Isle of Wight County in 1769.
- James Denson, born 8 Aug 1657 in Nansemond County.
- Kathereen Denson, born 4 Aug 1659 in Nansemond County.
- Sarah Denson, born 14 Nov 1665.
- John Denson, born 20 Mar 1666, married Mary, a daughter of Francis Bridle of Isle of Wight County on 12 ept 1682. In 1713 he was granted 230 acres and in 1716, 295 acres on the Blackwater Creek.
- Joseph Denson, born 14 Nov 1669.
