Marguerite Elizabeth Evans

Marguerite Elizabeth Evans (1910-1985) was the daughter of Mary Brent Chambliss and Homer J. Evans of Atlanta. Her academic record was impressionable, with report cards registering high grades in all subjects. She was graduated from Hoke Smith High School in 1925. That year record numbers received diplomas in Atlanta schools, with some 72,000 graduates. Agnes Scott, 80; Tech High, 260; Boys High, 100; Girls High, 225; Commercial High, 170. Hoke Smith, William A. Bass, Joseph E. Brown and Daniel O'Keefe high schools graduated a total of 1500 students. Forty-three elementary schools graduated 2,000 students. The Atlanta Normal School had 54 graduates.
After graduating from Hoke Smith High School, she attended a business college to learn secretarial skills and afterwards worked for Oberdorf Insurance Company until she was married to Laurel Benjamin Holland in 1930.
