Chester, N. L. (Dr.) died in Marietta. He was born in Gorton, Connecticut. "He came to Georgia when a youth and entered Franklin College, where he graduated. He taught school in Lexington, Georgia and at the same time studied medicine. He afterwards removed to Gainesville and practiced his profession. About the year 1835, he came to Marietta, where he has since lived, enjoying the confidences and esteem of all who know him. For more than 40 years he has been a ruling elder in te Presbyterian church...leaving a wife and three children. The Marietta Journal 12/1/1876.

Cobb, Andrew J., Professor, "son of the late General Howell Cobb, also fills a professor's chair. (State University, Athens) He inherits much of his father's intense mind and ability he is a graduate of the University of Georgia, in the class of '76, and has been in the active practice of law for fourteen years. During that time he has stored his mind with legal knowledge and experience, thus fitting him to a high degree for the position of professor which he has held since 1884. He is quite an authority upon law, and his opinions have much weight. He is now city attorney, and is local counsel for the Georgia, Carolina, and Northern Railway company. Howell CobbCOBB, Howell, his photograph (painting) placed in the Boys' High School, Atlanta, in 1900. He was the son of John Addison Cobb of Granville County, North Carolina, and his mother was Sarah Rootes, the daughter of Colonel Thomas Reade Rootes of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Howell was graduated in 1834 from Franklin College, afterwards known as the University of Georgia. He married in 1835 at the age of nineteen, his bride being seventeen, Miss Mary Ann Lamar, daughter of Colonel Zacharias Lamar of Milledgeville. He was admitted to the bar in 1836 and was elected solicitor general in 1837, and to congress in 1844-1848-1848, and speaker of the house in 1849. Three years later he was appointed secretary of the treasury in President Buchanan's cabinet, which position he resigned in 1860. Cooper Cooper, John Randolph, "better known as 'Buck', is a native of Lawrenceville, Ga. He may very well be called a self-made man. By perseverance and industry he was enabled to enter the University of Georgia, in 1887, and graduated with the class of '89. Mr. Cooper has made quite an excellent reputation here. He joined the Demosthenian society wherein he has attained a high degree of perfection in the divine art of oratory, Spring debater, champion debater, anniversarian, he crowned them all a few months since by taking the prize debater's medal of his society.
