HISTORY of the GEORGIA FEMALE SEMINARY and CONSERVATORY of MUSIC
Gainesville, Georgia
The school began long before 1887, when Professor Van Hoose, then a young man, was elected president to succeed Dr. W. C. Wilkes who had died in March of 1886. For many years it was a village school, which expanded large buildings, and with students graduating from every section of the state. The young ladies of this school was accredited with having achieved a high degree of efficiency. It enjoyed much of its expansion, thanks to Professor Van Hoose and Professor H. Pearce, the associate presidents.
