If your ancestors occupied this region, it is wise for genealogists to search the county records in both counties. After the Revolutionary War, many land grants were issued to veterans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The region around Augusta and the Savannah River was occupied by friendly Indian traders who traded just over the border in Edgecombe County, South Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Quaker settlements at Wrightsboro (at one time) fell into Richmond County.  After the counties split, Wrightsboro fell into McDuffie County.
