Whitaker of Henry County

April 14,2009. I went back to see if I could learn anything from the Henry County records and founding nothing helpful. The only access to any records in Chambers County, Alabama is the Georgian Room in Cobb County, and that is very minute. I am in the process of collecting some Alabama information, however, very little has ever been published. Jeannette Austin.

Martha Whitaker married Meredith Thrower Mar. 18, 1841 in Henry County. The only Whitaker old enough to be her father was Burton Whitaker, b. 1797 in NC. He married Mary Willet in Jan. 1827. Martha was born in 1823, so Mary was not her mother. Burton must have had an earlier wife. Martha moved to Chambers Co. Al. She and her husband both died during the Civil War, and their children were raised by a couple who had no children of their own. Martha died in the 1860's and Burton died after the 1870 census of Henry County. Do you know of any other Whitaker in Henry County who might have been her father? Thanks, Phyllis Porter
