Walls of Fayette County

Research completed on 1/3/2008.  My research in Fayette County discloses an administrator’s bond of Ellis Walls along with John A. Walls and William Walls on 1/10/1839 on the estate of Joseph Walls, late of Fayette County.

John A. Walls must have died later that year because on 11/4/1839 John A. Walls and William Walls gave a bond on the estate of John Walls, deceased.  The estate of John Walls paid out to heirs on 12/31/1841 to:

W. A. Worsham, John Peaves, G. A. Walls, William Walls, William Jacobs, Williamson Walls and John A. Walls.

Since Rebecca Ann was married in Fayette County, it is logical to assume that she was related to one of the above.  Joseph’s estate did not name her, however, his generation qualifies to be her grandfather, not father. We don’t have much to go on.  Nothing was found in Twiggs County to match Rebecca to Samuel (records burned). There is an Ellis and William Walls in Heard County in 1850. Heard County bears searching.  The thing to do is to try and locate, G. A., William, Williamson and John A. Walls.  Were any of them in Chambers County, Alabama?  I do not have any access to Alabama records; they are so disappointing, but the deeds need searching there.  Jeannette Austin

More contradictory information on the father of Rebecca Ann Walls.  Some believe he was Joseph from MD, and some believe he was William Samuel Walls.

Joseph supposedly had a 1st wife named Rebecca, then he married Anna.

This line has the most contradictory information that any of my lines.  Everyone has a different idea.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rebecca Ann Walls married Wyatt C. Lett on June 30, 1831 in Fayette County, Ga. They moved to Chambers County, AL by 1840. I have been told that Rebecca's parents were Samuel and Anna Walls. Rebecca was born 1813 in SC. Samuel and Anna supposedly lived in Twiggs Co., GA where Samuel, Jr. was born in 1815, Caroline was born in ---, and Elizabeth was born 1825. On the 1850 census of Chambers County, AL Anna is living with Caroline (m. Wagner) next door to Samuel Jr.  Elizabeth married Hiram Sims, and they are living in Chambers County. Rebecca and Wyatt Lett were living in Chambers Co, AL However, there is no Samuel Sr.  Samuel supposedly lived in Twiggs, Henry, Gwinnett and Fayette Counties. However, I can't find him in Fayette County. The only Walls in Fayette County was John Walls, who might have been Rebecca's father or uncle. I have a list of children of John, which does not include Rebecca, but there is a space where her birth would fit. There was also a Charles Walls, brother (?) of Samuel, who had a wife named Rebecca. If you could shed any light on this mess, I would appreciate it. This really is a brick WALL. :-) I know this is rather sketchy, so let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Phyllis Porter
