Documents:
Original Birth Certificate with Paul Thomas McBride, with McBride crossed out & Pels handwritten in.
Paul Thomas Pels was adopted by Alois & Lizzie Pels. The priest at the Catholic Church, helped get Paul. Paul was brought home from Catholic Charities in Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX.
Paul was aprox. 2 weeks old when Grandma & Grandpa brought him home. My grandmother told me he was the prettiest baby, with dark hair & eyes.
Grandma & Grandpa were unable to pay the $100.00 to have the adoption finalized.
Paul's birth mother was Ina Mae McBride. Paula Pels Howard found this info. in 2000. Paul was given this info. on Father's Day. Paula has never been able to find Paul's birth father. Paul has a half sister, Marie. He also found many auints, uncles, cousins, etc..
Ina was the eldest of many siblings. When her mother, became pregnant & had a new child, Ina was pulled out of school to help out. Paul's sister, Marie was given up for adoption also. She was returned to the family when she was approx. 3 months old. Marie was raised as the youngest child. She did not find out that her mother was Ina, until Marie was about 57 years old. Marie was quite surprised to find out she had a half brother. Marie & Paul's fathers are not the same.
A man came to Ina's home (when she was pregnant with Paul) and asked to marry Ina. Ina's father chased him off with a gun.
Ina was never married, never worked outside the home or learned to drive. She died in 1964 from ovarian cancer.

Our marriage. took place in front of Betty's beautiful front door. People continued to come and knock and walk through front door. Shane also wanted to sing, so he cried. He wore a little red suit with/ a small boutineer.

The key to solving this puzzle lies in several possibilities. One, is to find where Little Meeks Paye, born 1824, was married to Emeline (born 1824).
They had a child born in 1847 (Amanda). Since they were not discovered on the 1850 Franklin Co. Census (but found there in 1860), I decided to follow the
Rev. Littleton Meeks family trail which led to Habersham Co. No marriage in Habersham Co. This event has got to be found because your L. M. P.
may not be from Franklin Co. and it appears that he removed to Franklin Co. to be among his wife's relatives.
Then, I made a study of the various Payne
families in Franklin Co. Benedict Payne, born 1797, became a candidate by virtue of the year of birth.
I examined the deeds and estates in Franklin Co. and did not find a link to your Littleton Meeks Payne. Without substantiating records,
I can only offer what I think and that is that Rev. Littleton Meeks of Franklin/Habersham Counties had two daughters who married Paynes and both of these daughters named
their sons Littleton Meeks Payne. I have been trying to find out more on Rev. Littleton Meeks, because I think he is the key. He resided near Homer,
Georgia, in the Georgia Mountains. He must have been very influential in the area to evoke such pride.
