Hello, I joined Georgia Pioneers today and I am requesting assistance with the following: Who were the parents and/or siblings of James William King? I know nothing prior to his marriage. Family stories indicate he was born in Atlanta, however, he was born in 1819 before Atlanta was officially established!

This is what I know:
Born 1819 (tombstone) - born in GA -(census)
BPF- SC and BPM -GA
Oct 4, 1843 married Nancy Jane Swindall of Greene County Georgia
Present in 1850 Greene County Census
1880 Rusk County Census indicates birthplace of his father - SC and mother GA. Moved to Texas approx 1853 deduced from 1860 census - Rusk County). died 1903 buried King Cemetery in Mt Enterprise
I know he was the guardian of brother of Nancy Swindall when in Greene County. Nancy Jane Swindall was the orphan of Henry Swindall - mother Anna - documented in guardian documents in Greene County.

Again, at this time, I would love to know the parents of James William King (1819-1903) who was born in GA. Any hints? Kathryn King Rhodes

There were several families in Greene County dating from 1820 to 1840 who had a son of the appropriate age to have been parents of James W. King. They are:

Alexander King
Dr. William King
Gilbertson P. King
William King
Joseph King.

Greene Co. Wills

William C. King 11/19/1852:1/12/1853. Wife, Martha. Children: Sarah E. M. and John King. (This William did not appear to have but 2 children, according to census records comparisons).

John King, son of William C. King. 4/18/1872. Wife: Irena. Children: Martha E. and Edwin F. Brother in law: William Parks.

Conclusion: The deed records and other court house records did not reveal anything further. Perhaps you recognize some of these names. I am inclined to think that he was a son of one of (two) William's (1820-1830 Greene County, not in 1840). There was no King in the 1840 Greene County Census having a son between the ages of 20 and 30.
