1830 census shows 1male 20-30 1 F 20-30 2F under 5. owned land lot #80 land district original Henry now Spaulding.

Thomas B. Johnson, an aged,well known and highly respected resident of this county,died at his home in Cabins district,Sunday morning and was buried near there at the family burying grounds. Mr. Johnson was born in Jasper County in 1806 and was in his 87th year. He came to this-then Henry County with his parents when he was 17 years old and has lived for 70 years in the same place. He has been a devoted member of the Methodist Curch for 60 years.He is a brother of D.H. and George D. Johnson and leaves children Dr J. M. Johnson of Macon, Dr D.T. Johnson, and mrs J.W. Patrick of Fort Smith, Ark Mrs Stahlings of this county.

Died in Oklahoma (Mrs Duck Stallings) interred at the family burying ground. She was a former resident of Spaulding county lift in 1907 to reside in Oklahoma. She had been a helpless invalid for 3 years having fallen and been injured. She was about 80 years old. Accompanying the remains here were mr and mrs John Woodward and other relatives. Mrs Stallings is survived by one son Mr Thomas Stallings, who is living somewhere in  the west.

“Nancy Elizabeth Johnson 1838-1912 (married Oliver Hazzard Perry Arnold), daughter of David Hill Johnson (1818-1853) and his wife Sarah Ann Dowdey (1818-1853), granddaughter of Thomas Johnson (1759-1839) and wife Mary Ann Ponder (died 1853) and great-granddaughter of Nathan Johnson (1720-1815) a native of Ireland who came to Georgia and served in the state militia during the Revolutionary War.”

 

David Hill Johnson was found in Pike County in 1850.  Nathan B. Johnson of Pike County sold several lots of land to John Adams of Henry Co. in 1846. From a deed in Henry Co. Book G, page 64, Thomas Smith gave to David Johnson, William Welden, Thomas B. Johnson, E. M. K. McCutchen, Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church one acre of land on the Northeast corner of Lot 80, district 2….lying in the fork of Zebulon and Thomaston Roads for a meeting house.

 

Apparently these Johnsons resided near Spalding Co. line, from Zebulon (Pike Co.).  I have not found a connection for your Meriwether R. Johnson yet.  Please note the above deeds indicating that he had received 1/7th of 202-1/2 acres of land in 42nd district, 2nd district.  Thomas B. Johnson (Henry Deed Book G, page 329) on 9/29/1835 sold to Jesse Sanderlin 202 ½ acres, being Lot 47, District 2 in Henry County.   Looks like the same land.  What I am trying to establish is why Meriwether received 1/7th part of this land.  There was a Thomas John, age 71, born SC and wife, Rachel, age 68, born SC, listed in 1850 Pike Co. Census.

 

I have completed searching Henry, Newton, Spalding and Pike Counties.
