AARON, William, applied for Rev. War Pension, Franklin Co. Ga. on 10/9/1832, aged 79 or 80 yrs. old. The application of his widow, Rebecca, aged 71, dtd 4/14/1857, states her husband died 10/1841, stating she married William Aaron 11/3/1829 Franklin Co., Ga.
ABERCROMBIE, Charles, "Died in Hancock County on the 23rd ult., Major Charles Abercrombie in his 77th year. He was a valiant officer in the Revolutionary War, and was honored several times with public office." The Darien Gazette 9/29/1821.
AIKENS, James, applied for Rev. War Pension, Coweta Co., Ga. on 9/5/1832, states he was b. 1762 or 1763 on Pa-Md line, lived Mecklenburg Co., N. C. when enlisted, d. 4/12/1843 Coweta Co. Ga. Application of wid., Frances dtd 1844, aged 80, states she married James Aikens in Greene Co., Ga. 3/16/1791.

BABER, James, applied for pension from Gwinnett Co., Ga., states he was b. Bedford Co., Va. 6/2/1762, enlisted into war in 1779 at aged of 17, d. 7/17/1836 while visiting relatives in Heflin and Edwardsville, Ala. Wid., Mildred, b. Bedford Co., Va. 6/13/1762, applied after husband's death, states she was married to James Baber 5/13/1785. Mildred Baber d. Gwinnett Co., Ga. 12/10/1846.
BAILLEY, Mrs. Mary Ann, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Advertiser, 12/3/1803, "Died on the 23rd ult., at her home on the head of Sapelo River, McIntosh County, Mrs. Mary Ann Bailley, age 63 years, relict of Robert Bailley, Esq., deceased, and only sister of General Lachlan McIntosh. She was born in the same county where she died and was the oldest native of this State. Her parents and their followers were the first settlers on the Altamaha or anywhere south of Savannah."
BARKSDALE, Jeffrey, "Died in Hancock County on the 22nd ult., Capt. Jeffrey Barksdale at an advanced age. He was a Revolutionary Soldier." The Georgia Messenger, published Macon, Ga., dtd 10/25/1832.
BARNARD, John, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Daily Gazette, 6/17/1819, "Another Revolutionary War Soldier Gone! Died on IOth inst. at his residence on Wilmington Island, Major John Barnard, in his 69th year."
BARNETT, Sion, The Southern Recorder dtd 4/11/1843, Died at his residence in Jasper County, Saturday, the 25th ult., Mr. Sion Barnett, a soldier in the Revolution, aged 82 years, leaving a widow with whom he had lived for more than fifty four years. He was a native of Warren County, N. C. and moved to Georgia 25 or 30 years ago. He served gallantly for several years in the Revolutionary struggle, in Captain Carter's Company, and was in Battles of Steno, Cowpens, and others. He died as he had lived, an honest man, poor but upright, a peaceable, orderly and correct citizen."
BENTLEY, Jesse, The Georgia Journal, 6/20/1836, "Died May 23rd at his son's residence, John T. Bentley of Henry County, aged 87 years. Jesse Bentley was born in North Carolina, a Revolutionary War Soldier at the age of 18."
BLACKSHEAR, David, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Daily Gazette, 7/11/1837 , " Died at his residence, Springfield, in Laurens County, on July 4th, General David Blackshear. He was born in N. C., where, as a boy of 16, he took up arms in defense of liberty and fought valiantly in that struggle. In 1790 he emigrated to Georgia, fought in the Indian Wars with great bravery, and commanded a brigade of Militia in the War of 1812. He was a highly esteemed citizen of his county and State. The Georgia Messenger, dtd 7/13/1837, "General David Blackshear died in Laurens County, July 4th ult., aged 74. He was born in N. C. and fought in the Revolutionary War at the age of 16." The Southern Recorder, "Died on the 28th ult., in her 46th year, the wife of General David Blackshear of Laurens County. She was a native of Virginia." (does not give her name)
BOWEN, Elijah, applied for pension 10/9/1832 Tattnall Co., states was b. 3/11/1759 Duplin Co., N. C., after war, lived Effingham Co., now Bulloch Co., and for last 30 years in Tattnall Co. Ga. Sabra Bowen, wid. of Elijah, res. of Tattnall Co., applied to obtain bounty lands for her husband's Revolutionary service, states husband d. 12/31/1837 Tattnall Co., Ga. She married Elijah 12/1804.
BOWEN, Stephen, res. of Tattnall Co., applied for pension 10/11/1825, aged 68, was b. Duplin Co., N. C., enlisting in Continental Army in 1778, 5th N. C. Troops, has helpless wife, aged 66, infirm.
BROWN, Jesse, The Southern Christian Advocate, 4/2/1835, died Early County on the 16th ult., Jesse Brown, aged about 75 75 years, a relict of our Revolutionary struggle in which he took an active part at an early age. exempt by age, he volunteered in the Creek Campaign and was in the engagement at Autossee and among the foremost in firing their quarters. He was a highly respected man."
BROWN, William, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Advertiser 9/22/1810, "Died Friday evening at the age of 74 years, Major William Brown, long a citizen of Savannah. We have to number him among the Revolutionary Officers who did their duty in the period that tried men's souls."
BRYAN, Mrs. Mary, The Southern Recorder, 5/31/1836, "Mrs. Mary Bryan, wife of John S. Bryan, died 22nd inst. at Clifton, Baldwin Co. Her mother died while she was a child and her father, Sampson Neyle, having married again, sent Mrs. Thomas and her sister, Miss Neyle, to the North where they were educated. She was a granddaughter of Jonathan Bryan, one of the first settlers of Georgia and one of the foremost patriots of the Revolution. She left behind a husband and four children."
BUFF, Michael, The Southem Recorder, "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone ! Died in Oglethorpe County on the 28th ult., Mr. Michael Buff in his 102nd year. He was a soldier under General Frobes in 1758 and was at the capture of Fort Duquesne in the Revolutionary War in which he took an active part. For the past twelve years, he was a member of the Baptist Church." 6/11/1839.
BURNLEY, Henry, The Southern Recorder, 1/27/1835, "Died on the 15th ult., at his residence in Columbia County, Henry Burnley, a Revolutionary Soldier, in his 80th year. For many years, he was a member of the Baptist Church. Wife and children survive."
BUTTS, James, The Southern Recorder, 3/17/1835, "Died at his residence in Hancock County on the 17th ult., Capt. James Butts, aged 78 years, native of Virginia and a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Left numerous family."
CALHOUN, Joseph, The Dispatch, 12/5/1856, "Joseph Calhoun died at his residence in Dooly County, Georgia, at the advanced age of 100 years, 10 mos...born in North Carolina."
CALLAWAY, Pe ter, The Southern Christian Advocate, 5/19/1835, "Died of consumption on April 19th, at the home of General David Blackshear in Laurens County, Peter Callaway, a Revolutionary Soldier in his 77th year. He was honest, generous and charitable, as a soldier, brave and merciful, as a husband, father and master was exemplary, kind and benevolent. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for thirty years."
CAMPBELL, George, The Southern Christian Advocate, 9/10/1841, "Ano ther Revolutionary Father Gone ! George Campbell was born of Irish parents in the State of Pennsylvania 14th February 1753. The family, while he was quite small, removed to Cabarrus County, N. C., where they continued to reside until the commencement of the Revolutionary War, in which he served. He was married in Cabarrus County (then Mecklenburg) and shortly after removed to Greene County, Georgia. In 1811, he removed to Morgan County. His wife died there in 1813. He died 9th of August in his 89th year."

CAULDER, John, applied for pension in McIntosh Co., Ga. His Bible, attached thereto, states he married Phebe Haughton 12/24/1789 first, and second, Winewood F. Rickey 3/15/1804. He died 1/4/1804.

CHANCE, Simpson, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Daily Gazette dtd 1/4/1838, "Died at his residence in Houston County on 22nd ult., Mr. Simpson Chance, age about 90 years. He was a soldier in the Revolution and in our border warfare when the Oconee was the western boundary. He was very actively engaged in the defense of our country, and in one of the engagements one of his stirrup leathers was cut in two by an enemy's ball, but he escaped unhurt.
CLARK, Elijah, The Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State, 12/21/1799, "Died on the 15th ult., at a mature age, Elijah Clark, Esquire, late a Major-General in the service of this State; a soldier from nature and a patriot from principle, early in late Revolutionary War, he decided on the part he should take and it was due to his exertions that the western frontiers of two States were kep secure and the Indians kept in awe. His memory cannot be forgotten...." The Milledgeville Journal, "died on the night of the 8th inst., Caroline Margaret Clark, only daughter of Major Elijah Clark, age 11 months, 2 days." 9/30/1812.
CLARK, John, The Southern Recorder, 11/8/1832, "Died on October 12th, at his residence on St. Andrews Bay, Florida, in his 67th year, General John Clark, formerly of Georgia; while engaged in getting out live-oak, he was attacked with bilious fever on St. Vincent Island and was taken home in a small boat where he lingered until the evening of the 12th October, when he died."
CLAY, Jesse, The Georgia Patriot, 8/31/1824: "Another Revolutionary Patriot Ga the re d To His Fathers . Died at his residence near Monticello, near Jasper County, Cap ta in Jesse Clay, age 80 years. A native of Virginia; leaving a wife, a large family, and a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances to deplore his loss. He was a native of Virginia. He acted a Lieu tenant in the Revolutionary War ...He was always esteemed an excellent Whig, and a brave officer. He had a son who bore arms under him, in those times that tried men's souls. He was married in his nineteenth year to the wife who now survives him, with whom he lived sixty-four years, and by whom he had 19 children; 15 sons and 4 daughters...He was among the first settlers of Jasper...."
CLAY, Joseph, Southern Patriot, 12/22/1804, "Honorable Joseph Clay, 64 years of age, native of England came to this country at an early period in his life and at the commencement of the Revolutionary War, had a large family with am ample fortune...was patriot, Judge of Inferiour Court for 20 years; buried burial ground of this city."
CLOUD, Ezekiel, applied for pension from Henry Co., Ga. 12/18/1832, stating was b. 3/14/1762 and enlisted into service in Wilkes Co., Ga. in 1778, at siege of Augusta, battle of Blackstock, and fought Indians at Ft. Hinton, Ga., served til 1782. Ezekiel d. 5/30/1850, leaving wid., Elizabeth.
COBB, Thomas, The Georgia Messenger, 10/25/1832, "Died lately at his residence in Columbia County, Capt. Thomas Cobb, age 110 years, a native of Buckingham County, Virginia. He was a soldier in the Revolution, and held office under the Commonwealth after independence. He moved to Georgia in 1785. He very efficiently carried on his plantation operations for 90 years, and always had an abundance every season, whether it was a good season or not."
COFFEE , John, The Sou them Recorder , 7 /17 /18 33 , "Died near Florence, Alabama, Sunday 7th inst., General John Coffee, formerly of Tennessee."
COOPER, Mary, wid. of Samuel. The Southern Recorder 1/26/1832, "Died on the 20th inst., Mrs. Mary Cooper, age 70 years, consort of Samuel Cooper of Putnam County. She had been sick five or six years.
CUMMINS, Francis, The Southern Recorder, "Died in Greene County on 22nd ult., Rev. Dr. Francis Cummins, age 81 years. He was one of the Revolutionary patriots who signed the Declaration of Mecklenburg, N. C. in May of 1775. He was a patriot, a learned man and devine, and at his death was a Presbyterian Pastor."
CUNNINGHAM, John, Georgia Gazette, 7/10/1800, "Died last Friday, John Cunningham, aged 37."
CURRY, Nicholas, The Southern Recorder, 3/5/1827, "Died at his residence in Washington County on 23rd ult., Major Nicholas Curry in his 67th year. He entered the Revolution as a private and left it with the rank of Captain of Dragoons after a hard service of five years. Shortly after the war he settled the place where he died. Survived by a wife and several children.
DALTON, John, The Georgia Messenger, 11/14/1833, "Died in Macon on the 17th ult., Mr. John Dalton, age 80 years, a soldier who shared in many hard-fought battles of our Revolution."
DAMERON, Charles, received pension under Act of 1789, wife, Polly, he d. 10/1829.
DANIEL, John, applied for pension from Elbert Co., Ga. 1/23/1833, stating was b. 5/23/1762 Wake Co., N. C., lived N. C. 8 yrs. after Rev., then moved to Elbert Co., Ga. where d. 6/13/1841. His wid. d. ll/7/1841. In 1854 his children were: Elizabeth Craft, wife of John Craft of Elberton; Nancy Cunningham; Martha Ryley; David Daniel; Mary Craft; Sarah Cunningham; John F. Daniel; Alien Daniel; and Lucinda Prewett.
DANIEL, John Osborne, applied for pension from Elbert Co., Ga., stating was b. 1762 Wake Forest, N. C., and married Margaret Means. He d. 7/13/1841.
DARSEY , James, The Southern Recorder, 2/ 16/ 1832 , "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Departed this life on the 3rd inst., at the residence of his son, Joseph, in Laurens County, in his 90th year, Mr. James Darsey. He was sick only two days."
DAVIS, Thomas L., d. 10/19/1816, from 1835 Report of Secretary of War, Georgia's Military Pensions, Invalid Pensioners.
DELK, David, The Sou them Recorder 6/21/1836: "Capt. Hamilton Garmany of the Gwinnett Mounted-Men, in his report to the Governor concerning the battles in Stewart County with the indians, lists the casulaties. Seven men were killed and four wounded. . . In a postscript attached it is s ta te d tha t the following men of Stewart Company under Major Jernigan, were killed: David Delk, Esquire...Delk was a lawyer...."

DISMUKES, John, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Daily Gazette, 3/16/1818, "Died in Baldwin County on 4th inst., in his 93rd year, John Dismukes, a native of Virginia. He fought in Braddock's War and was a soldier in the Revolution. He was an honest, humane, patriotic man, and was much esteemed by his many acquaintances."
DIXON, Robert, The Georgia Messenger, 7/7/1836, "Died in Bibb County, June Ilth, Robert Dixon. He was a Revolutionary War Soldier for three years and three months."
DOLES, Jesse, The Southern Recorder, 8/25/1831, "On July 26th at his residence in Baldwin County, Jesse Doles, Sr., died, in his 80th year, a Revolutionary Soldier. For 45 to 50 years he was a worthy member of the Methodist Church."
DOLLAR, John, The Georgia Gazette, 10/20/1797, "Died in his 55th year at his plantation "Antrim" near Sunbury on 9th (Liberty Co.). He was a Captain in the Continental Artillery in the American Revolution. "
DUPRE, Jeremiah, Southern Christian Advoca te , 10 / 5/ 18 38 , "Jeremiah Dupre, Revolutionary War Soldier, born Brunswick County, Virginia Nov. 16, 1754, a descendant of the Hugenots, he came to Washington County, Ga. in 1791. In 1808 he moved to Twiggs Co., Ga. and in 1826 to Houston Co., Ga. where he died 9/3/1838, aged 84."

EDWARDS, John, The Southern Christian Advocate, 11/27/1840, "Died at his residence in Macon, Georgia , 2nd November, Mr. John Edwards. He was born in Virginia, February 1764.
ELBERT , Mrs. Elizabeth , Georgia Gazette , 1/26/1792, "Mrs . Elizabeth Elbert, widow of General Samuel Elbert, died at Great Ogeechee.
EWING, Samuel, The Southern Recorder, 7/9/1834, "Died in Hancock County, Monday the 30th ult., Samuel Ewing, at a very advanced age. "
EZELL, Hartwell, The Southern Recorder, 11/29/1836, "Died at the residence of his son, Braxton R. Ezell, in Jasper County, on the 17th inst., Hartwell Ezell, Esquire, in his 72nd year. For the last 26 years he was a member of the Methodist Church."
FEW, William, The Rural Cabinet, 8/9/1828, "Died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Clarystie in Fishkill, N. Y., on the 16th inst., Colonel William Few of New York in his 81st year. He was born in Maryland in 1748 and moved to Georgia before the Revolution. In 1776 he was a delegate to the State's First Constitutional Convention, then served as a legislator and member of the Executive Council. Served in the campaigns against the Indians on the western frontier during the war, and was promoted to Lieut. Col., Delegate to Continental Congress 1780-1783, and to the Constitutional Convention in 1788-89 which adopted the U. S. Constitution. He was U. S. Senator from Georgia 1789-1793. Having married in New York City, he moved there and spent his last 30 years there. There he was a member of the New York Legislature, and was appointed by President Jefferson as Commissioner of Loans serving until the office was abolished. For the last ten years of his life he was a State Inspector of Prisons.

FLEMING, Mary, relict of Thomas, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Daily Gaze tte, 10/16/1817, "Died on 13th inst., Mrs. Mary Fleming, relict of Thomas, aged 90 years, native of S. C., her parents fled France on the Edict of Nantes; for many years, she was a respectable citizen of Savannah."
FLEMING, William, Augus ta Chronicle and Gazette of the S ta te , 3/5/1796, "Died at Louisville, Major William Freeman, late of Augusta."
FLUELLAN, Abner, The Georgia Journal, 8/30/1815, "Died last Monday at his plantation in this county, Baldwin County, Capt. Abner Fluellan in his 55th year. He was an officer in the Revolutionary War and fought at Guilford.

GIBSON, John,The Southern Christian Advocate, 1/29/1841, "Death of Capt. John Gibson of S.C. Died on the 6th ult., at Darlington Courthouse, S. C., Capt. John Gibson in his 68th year."
GILBERT, Thomas, The Southern Recorder, 11/17/1835, "Died at her father's home in Scottsboro on the 8th inst., Emily Adeline, the 15 yrs old and 8 mos old daughter of Capt. Thomas and Margaret Gilbert, of bilious fever."
GLASCOCK, Elizabeth, Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State, 9/13/1794, "Died Thursday last, Mrs. Elizabeth Glascock, relict of the late Hen. William Glascock.
GLASCOCK, Mary, wife of Thomas, The Columbian Museum and Savannah Advertiser, 9/5/1804, "Mrs. Mary Glascock, wife of General Thomas Glascock, died in Augusta on the 27th ult. They had lost three daughters not long before."
GLASCOCK, Thomas, The Republican and Savannah Evening Ledger, 3/20/1810, "Died in Augusta on the 9th inst., in his 54th year, General Thomas Glascock, a native of Virginia. Early in the Revolution he received a commission in the regular service and continued until the close with honor to himself and country. Then became an active officer in the State Militia and rose to command a regiment, then a brigade. He was buried Saturday at his former residence about three miles out from Augusta."
GLASCOCK, William, Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State, 1/19/1793, "Died Sunday in his 62nd year, Hen. William Glascock, Esq., buried Monday on his plantation, near Augusta."
GLENN, James, The Southern Christian Advocate, 11/3/1837, "James Glenn, Revolutionary War Soldier, was born in Hanover County, Virginia, 1764, and died at his residence in Jackson County, Georgia October 11, 1837, in his 74th year. His parents removed to N. C. when he was a child. There at the age of 16 he fought in the Revolution. In the year 1791 he moved to Georgia. " The Columbian Museum and Savannah Daily Gazette, 11/7/1837, "Diedat his residence in Jackson County on 11th ult., of dropsy, Mr. James Glenn in his 74th year. He was born in Hanover County, Va. and when a child was carried by his parents to N. C., where the family lived until that State became the scene of General Greene's and Cornwallis' operations. Upon seeing a foreign foe laying waste to his country, his youthful heart felt the flames of liberty and he entered the service under Gen. Greene; and on his 15th birthday was in the battle of Guilford Courthouse; was also in the battle at Hobkirk's Mill near Linden, S. C. He served two years in the war. He moved to Georgia in 1791, and the same year united with the Methodist Church. Lived to see his wife and nine children and their companions all members of the same church, as well as all of his old-enough grandchildren."
GORDON, Ambrose, The Augusta News, 7/7/1804, "Died last Thursday in his 53rd year, Colonel Ambrose Gordon, late of Savannah. He died at the home of Edward Rowell in Chatham County, and was buried in St. Paul's Churchyard. Pall-bearers: Brig. Gen. Glascock, Col. Watkins, Col. Flournoy, Majors Hutchinson, Blair and Watkins. The deceased entered the army at an early period in the Revolutionary War and bore a commission in the cavalry and distinguished himself as an officer. He was in failing health for two or three years and was on his way to the Warm Springs when taken ill at Mr. Rowell's.
GRACE, John, applied for pension 10/9/1832, Tattnall Co., Ga., states was b. 8/27/1761 N. C., is aged 71 yrs. LWT dtd 1839 Tattnall Co., Ga.
GRAVES, John, The Southern Recorder, 7/6/1824, "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Died at his residence in Washington, Wilkes County, on the 24th ult., in his 77 year, Col. John Graves. He was born in Culpepper County, Va., entered the army in 1776 as a Lieutenant in the 8th Virginia Regiment; at the close of the war he was a Major. He was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth and at the siege of York. When General Greene crossed the Yadkin River, he was in charge of 200 men to protect passage of the troops; they had an engagement with Cornwallis in doing so, but succeeded in protecting thne troops and themselves, crossing the Yadkin River with a loss of only three killed and five wounded. He moved to Georgia in 1784. He commanded a regiment against the Creeks in 1786. The Treaty of Shoulderbone followed, to which he was a witness. He was elected by the Legi sla tute as a Presidential E le c tot in the last election.

GRAYSON, William, The Southern Recorder, 6/13/1829, "Died on the 17 th ult., at his residence in Albemarle County, Virginia, Captain William Grayson in his 97th year. He was born November 25, 1732 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He was a soldier in early life, being in Forbrose's campaign in 1758 and in the expedition to Fort Pitt, now Pittsburgh, to expel the French and Indians. HAMMOND, Catherine, sister of Col. Samuel Hammond, The Southern Recorder, 5 / 17 / 1842 , "Miss Catherine Hammond was born in Northumberland County, Va., Dec. 30, 1763, and died in Milledgeville May 11, 1842, age 76 years. She was the daughter of Charles Hammond who, with his family, moved to S. C. in 1776 and settled later in Georgia near Augusta, where he died. During the Revolution her family were all ardently devoted to the cause of liberty. She had five brothers in the Army, and one of them, viz., Colonel Samuel Hammond, who still survives, was formerly a member of Congress, and by appointment of President Jefferson was the first Governor of Missouri. He distinguished himself in several important engagements during the Revolutionary War. From about the time of her father's death in 1784, Miss Ca theri ne became a communicant of the Episcopal Church in Augusta, and she has generally resided in and near that city from that time until last November when she came to Milledgeville to visit an aged sister."

IRWIN, Jared, The Southern Recorder, 3/16/1818, "Died at Union Hill, at his seat in Washington County on the 1st inst., General Jared Irwin, in his 63rd year. He was born in Mecklenburg Co., N. C. and emigrated to Georgia when about 7 years old, and for many years was on the Indian frontier. During the latter part of the Revolutionary War he was actively employed in skirmishing warfare against the Tories and the Indians. At the close of the war he was chosen a delegate to the Georgia Legislature in 1784. From then to his death he was always in some high public station. Served as Governor more than once, and when not Governor he was in the Senate, serving as President of that body. He leaves an aged companion and a son and three daughters.

JOHNSTON, James, The Souhem Christian Advocate, 4 / 24/ 18 40 , "James Johnston, Revolutionary Soldier of S. C., died 23rd of March, age 88 years. He left Ireland, his native country and came with his father, who was a surveyor, to America before the Revolution and remained in S. C. until the Declaration of Independence took place. He then fought in the war. After the war, he returned to Ireland and brought his mother, brothers and sisters with him to America, where he remained for sometime. he then, for his second time, returned to Ireland where he married and with his wife returned to America in 1810, selecting Charleston as the place of his final abode. Here he raised a worthy family.

He removed to Georgia in 1807 and resided principally in Morgan and Newton Counties until about 5 years ago when he moved to Miss. He raised 7 sons to manhood, 5 of whom became professional men and 2 of them farmers, all wealthy and not a gambler or drunkard among them. He was an honest, hardworking, upright man. Leaves an aged widow with whom he had lived upwards of 50 years, and 5 surviving sons...." It is well known that during the Revolutionary struggle he took an active part for freedom. He filled some of the most important s ta ti on s in civil as well as in military depa r tme n ts of the State. A few days before his death, to-wit, on the morning of the 7tb inst., his youngest son, Andrew Lawson, Esq., Sheriff of Twiggs County, died at the house of David Delk in Wilkinson County on his way home from Washington."

He was an officer in the Revolutionary War, and for many years a member of Congress. He delivered the funeral oration on the death of the lamented Washington. He received severe wounds when, with the venerable Lingan, they were attacked by a mob in Baltimore in 1812, and never recovered. Had been for sometime travelling for his health and had arrived at Cumberland from Bermuda only a few days before."

LONG, Gabriel, The Southern Recorder, 3/5/1827, "Died on the 3rd inst., in his 74th year at his residence in Culpepper County, Virginia, Major Gabriel Long, the last of Morgan's Captains in the Revolution. He joined the Battalion of Minutemen as Lieutenant in 1775 and was in the first actions with the enemy the fall of that year at Norfolk and Hampton. He was invited by General Daniel Morgan to take command of a rifle company and given full authority to select his men. He served in the North in 1776; he led the advance at Saratoga. Also, he was in 18 battles and in each a post of danger. His eulogy was the frequent theme of Morgan. He commanded a partisan corp. at Yorktown."

MINTON, John, applied for pension from Wilkes Co., Ga. 6/12/1812, where he d. 3/22/1821. In 1820 gave his wife's age as 45.
MONTGOMERY, James M. C., The Southern Recorder, 10/25/1842, "Died on the 6th of October at his residence 'Standing Peachtree' in DeKalb County, in his 73td year, Colonel James M. C. Montgomery, after a lone period of feeble health; following the recent death of his consort to whom he was devotedly attached, he sank rapidly. He was born in Lancaster Dist., S. C. At an early age he moved to Georgia and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He served in both civil and military capacities. He accompanied his father, a staunch Whig and military Captain in the Revolution. About the close of the Revolution, though but a lad, on a short expedition against the Tories. Later was a private in expeditions against the Indians in East Tenn. in 1791-2. He commanded a battalion in the indian hostilities of 1813, and was Adjutant under General Floyd in the Battle of Autossee. He was a schoolmate and personal friend and for awhile army compatriot of General Jackson. He served as magistrate, collector of State and U. S. Revenues, State Senator, Agent of Indian Affairs, etc. He and his late wife were married for 45 years. Their home was the abode of hospitality and kindness. They had 13 children, one died in infancy. Eight are living. Members of the church 50 years. Funerals of both him and his wife were preached on the same day by different clergymen in the presence of a large cone ou r se of friends and neighbors.

Ash Co., N. C. 6/10/1770, married in 1788, Oliver Morton. Her husband substituted during the war for his father, Silas Morton, in Mass. Militia.

She had been sick eight months. She was a daughter of James Smith, Esq. of Prince William Parish, S. C. and a descendant in the maternal line of Gov. Moore and his wife, Elizabeth Beresford, of that then province."

For about 25 years he had been a member of the Methodist Church. He lived an upright, honorable life. He devised $1700 out of his ample fortune to religious and charitable purposes."
McINTOSH, John, The Southern Recorder, 11/28/1826, "General John McIntosh died at his plantation in McIntosh County near the place of his birth, on Sunday 12th inst., age about 70 years. He was an officer in the Georgia Line of 1775 and during the Revolution served with unblemished honor, patriotism and courage. In 1814 he was again in the defense of his country, and commanded the Georgia Division which went to Pensacola."

C. where he served several years in the N. C. Militia in the Revolutionary War; for the last four years of the war was a regular dragoon in the American Cavalry; was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at York."

PATRICK, William, The Southern Recorder, 6/19/1833, "Died in Clarke County on Saturday 18th inst., in his 77 th year, Mr. William Patrick of Newton County. On the morning of that day he left his home in Newton County for a visit to his friends in Oglethorpe and Clarke Counties, in apparent good health; bu t before he had gone 25 miles he suffered a stroke which killed him. The next evening his remains were taken back to his home and buried. He was a Revolutionary Soldier. He left a wife and 5 children. Was an exemplary member of the Methodist Church."

RAGLAND, William, The Southern Recorder, 3/22/1836, "Died in McDonough, Henry Co., Ga., on the 2nd inst., William Ragland, Esq. in his 71st year. He was born in Northampton County, N. C. and moved thence to Chatham Co., N. C. In 1814, he moved to Jasper County, Georgia, thence Henry County, Georgia. Toward the close of the Revolution, though only a youth, he was in the service and taken prisoner with others by the tories at Col. Alston's house on Deep River. He was a highly esteemed and respected citizen, and member of the Methodist Church."

He was an able seaman and served under John Paul Jones on the 'Ranger' and was in the landing party who landed in White Haven, England, in the desperate attempt to capture Lord Germain."
ROGERS, Britain, The Southern Christian Advocate, 4/28/1835, "Died on the Ind inst., Mr. Britain Rogers, Sr. in his 74th year. He was a native of N. C. While young, his father moved to Georgia and se ttle d in Wi Ike s, now Warren Coun ty. Fa i thf ul to the Revolutionary cause though taken prisoner, starved, iron-bound, threatened with death by hanging if he did not join the British. After his release he was as active as he was before the cause of independence. At the close of the war he settled in Hancock County where he lived highly respected until near the end of 1824 when he moved with his only son to Monroe County where he died. Member of Methodist Church 30 years. His aged wife survives. The deceased had near relatives in different parts of Alabama."

SHARP , John, The Southern Recorder , 11/10/1835 , "Ano ther Revolutionary Patrio t Gone ! Died at his residence in Tattnall County on October 7th of bilious fever, Major John Sharp in his 74th year. At an early age he took up arms in defense of his country. In all his dealings, honesty and truth were strictly adherred to. He left an aged widow but not for long as she died on 25th of October following. They had been married over 48 years. They leave behind two sons."
SHAW, Gilbert, The Southern Recorder, 2/22/1842, "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Gilbert Shaw of Jasper County is dead at the age of 85 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He was instantly killed when a tornado completely demolished his home where he and his aged wife and daughter and granddaughter were living. Mrs. Shaw was dangerously injured and the daughter badly hurt, the granddaughter was not hurt. Every building on the place was destroyed. No other home in the community was blown down."

He was born in Jones Coun ty, N. C. in 1750 and served under General Caswell in the Revolutionary War and was in the battle of Camden in 1780. He died without an enemy; he was scruptiously just and upright." The Georgia Messenger, 3/24/1832, "Died at the residence of his son, Daniel W. Shine In Twiggs County, Sunday, March Ilth, after a ten day illness, John Shine in his 73rd year. He was born in Jones County, N. C. in 1759, and devoged a part of his youth to the service of his country in the Revoljtionary War under General Caswell. He was in the battle of Camden in 1780. He died as he lived, without an enemy...."
SHUBRICK, Thomas, The Southern Centinel and Universal Gazette, 3/19/1810, "Died on the 4th inst. at Belvedere, his seat near Charleston, S. C., Colonel Thomas Shubrick. His distinguished military services during the Revolutionary War are well known. He served with gallantry and ability as Aide-de-Camp of General Lincoln while he commanded the Southern Dept. of the Ame rican Army; was also an Aide to General Greene; and conducted himself with so much bravery in the battle action at Eutaw Springs as to merit the thanks of Congress and a medal. He also served as Commissary of Prisoners in the Southern Dept. and effected the exchange of many prisoners. Died age 54 years."

The Georgia Messenger, 7/24/1834, "Died at the residence of his son-in-law, Rev. W. C. Hill in Monroe County Sunday morning the 20th inst., Rev. Isaac Smith in his 76th year. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, serving under Washington and was in most of the principal battles Eought by General Washington. His term of service expired before the end of the war, hu t he volunteered to serve on and was at the surrender of Cornwallis. Soon after the war he experience a call to preach the Gospel following his conversion, and united with the Methodist Church and later entering the itinerant minis try. After many years in that ministry he located at Camden, S. C., and lived there many years and reared his family...."

He served as Capt. in the Revolutionary War and was in several battles, was present at the surrender of Cornwallis. He was born in Northampton County, N. C., but had lived in Georgia for the past 30 years."
STEWART, Daniel, The Georgia Messenger, 1/13/1829, "General Daniel Stewart, a patriot of 1776, died at his residence in Liberty County on the 27th ult., age 69 years. He entered the war at 16 and was frequently in battle under Generals Sumter and Marion, and Col. William Harden at Pocataligo. Was taken prisoner at Charleston and put onboard an English prison ship. Probably no man suffered more or went through more perils and hardships during the whole war and later in the different Indian depredations on the frontier."

Died Wednesday, 23rd ult., at the house of Rev. John M. Smith in DeKalb County, William Suttles in his 107th year. He was born in Maryland. His wife is still living aged about 100 years. Reported by P. O. Smith, Covington, Georgia."

TALLEY, Henry, applied for pension from Newton Co., Ga. 12/24/1832, was b. 1760 Cumberland Co., Va. and lived Hanover Co., Va. when enlisted into war. Served one mo. as substitute for his uncle, Jeremiah Lindsey. After war, moved near Richmond, Va., then Mecklenburg Co., N. C., then Newton Co., Ga. where d. 6/4/1836. Edith Hopkins, wid. of Henry Talley, applies in 1855 from Newton Co., stating she was Edith Hubbard before she married Henry Talley 12/1/1795 in York Dist., S. C. and she was b. 3/3/1777. She married Francis Hopkins 8/10/1837, and divorced him 9/28/1840. Children of Edith and Henry Talley: Lucy b. 12/27/1796; Betsy Crumpton b. 12/24/1798; Hubbard; and Nathan.

TARVIN , George , The Georgia Messenger, 1/23/1834 , "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Died on the evening of the 1lth inst., at his residence in Houston County, Captain George Tarvin in his 75 th year. He was a soldier in the Revolution and was retained in the army after peace came, as an officer for many years. Houston County has lost a fine citizen in his passing."

TERRELL, Henry, The Georgia Messenger 8/21/1827, "Died in Macon a few weeks ago, Major Henry Terrell, age about 70 years; formerly of Fauquier Co., Va., but for many years had resided in different villages in Georgia. He was one of those patriots of the Revolution and in the Indian wars of that period in which he had an active part.

TURNER, Samuel, The Southern Recorder, 1/22/1834, "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Died in Hancock County, Wednesday, 15th inst., Mr. Samuel Turner, age 74 years. Moved from Maryland to Georgia in 1787 and settled the place where he died. Was among the first to cross the Ogeechee River. Was a Revolutionary Soldier. Left wife and ten children. For the past 27 years he was a member of the Baptist Church."
TWIGGS, John, The Georgia Journal, 4/10/1816, "Died near Augusta on the 29th ult., Major General John Twiggs, age 66 years. He was an active officer in the Revolutionary War and was believed to be the oldest General in the United States."

He was a native of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, but for many years a resident of Georgia. Joined the American Army at the age of 14 and served in it until independence was achieved."

He served under General Washington in the Revolutionary War in several campaigns."

After living 44 years in Dinwiddie Co., Va., he moved to Ga., and by industry and economy had accumulated a handsome property. For 20 years a member of the Methodist Church. He was survived by his aged wife and seven children. Died on the 10 th inst. " The Southern Recorder, 7/24/1838, "Died in Putnam Co. at the house of Mr. Joseph Johnson on 2nd of July 1838, Mrs. Elizabeth Warren, Consort of Jesse Warren, late of Hancock Co., Ga., deed, in her 87 th year. Had gone home with her daughter, Susan Johnson, to spend a week, when she died. She was born in Dinwiddie Co., Va. and joined the Methodist Church in 1774."

WILLIAMS, James, The Southern Recorder, 2/24/1824, "Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Died at Monticello on the 7th inst., James Williams, Esq., in his 79th year. He was a Captain in the Revolutionary struggle of 1776 and was twice captured. He was a de le ga te to the S. C. Constitutional Convention. Had lived in Georgia for 29 years. He was an honest, upright man and pious Christian."

WIMBERLY, Ezekiel, The Southern Recorder, 5/16/1843, "Died at his residence in Twiggs Co. on the 5th inst., General Ezekiel Wimberly in his 60th year. He was a Colonel in the late War with Great Britain, and was later elected by the legislature as Major General of the State Militia, which he held until his declining years forced him to resign. He served several times from Twiggs as Representative and Senator and was twice chosen Presidential elector."
