TALLEY, Billey, W19434, Virginia, Hanover Co., appl. dtd 12/4/1832, was b. 2/29/1756; enl. Hanover Co., Va. 1776 as Pvt., Capt. Richard Clough Anderson's Co., Col. Scott's 5th Va. Regt.; was at Philadelphia when the British occupied N. Y.; in battles of Germantown and Brandywine; wintered at Valley Forge with troops under Gen. Washington, disch. 2/1778 having served 2 yrs. Died 3/5/1834. Va., Henrico Co., Elizabeth Talley, wid., 5/28/1840, states that on 3/19/1785 Billey Talley married Lucy Wood and they had children: Polley, b. 1/24/1786 married 1/20/-- Charles Whitlock; John, b. 12/17/1788 married 7/4/1816 Sarah B. Williamson in Henrico Co. Elizabeth's maiden name was Elizabeth W. Crenshaw, b. 12/7/1771, and she married Billey Talley 12/24/1791 in Prince William Co., Va., having children: Williamson, b. 10/13/1792 married 10/26/1820 Elizabeth T. Redd, dau. of Samuel Redd in Caroline Co.; Billey, Jr., b. 9/2/1794 married 5/24/1821 Elizabeth T., dau. of Capt. Daniel Elliott in King William Co., Va. by Rev. Charles Tilley, Jr.; Thomas, b. 3/6/1798 married 6/3/1819 Eliza F. Archer in Norfolk Co. by Rev. Paxton; Nathaniel, b. 7/8/1804; and Elizabeth W., b. 3/4/1809 married 8/30/1826 John G. Wade, by Rev. Charles Talley.

TALLEY, Henry, W4350, Georgia, Newton Co., apple dtd 12/24/1832, was b. 1760 Cumberland Co., Va., res. in Hanover Co. when he vol. in 1780, 1 mo., Capt. Elisha White's Co., Col. Stark's Regt.; enl. 1780 as Pvt., Capt. Crawford, Col. William Davis' Regt.; in battle of Camden (Gates' defeat), disch. 1/17/1782, having served in all 18 mos. Served 1 mo. in Militia as substitute for his uncle, Jeremiah Lindsey. After the war, he moved near Richmond, Va., then Mecklenburg Co., N. C., then Newton Co., Ga. Soldier d. 6/4/1836 Newton Co., Ga. Edith Hopkins, wid. of Henry Talley, applies 7/30/1855, Newton Co., stating she was Edith Hubbard before she married Henry Talley on 12/1/1795 in York Dist., S. C., and was b. 3/3/1777. She married Francis Hopkins 8/10/1837 and dive him 9/28/1840. Children of Edith and Henry Talley: Lucy, b. 12/27/1796; Betsy Crumpton, b. 12/24/1798; Henry Hubbard Talley; and Nathan Talley.

TALLEY, John, 838426, Georgia, Montgomery Co., appl. dtd 10/18/1819; enl. 1781 as Pvt. in Capt. Parson's Co. of Va., Col. William Washington's Regt. of Lt. Dragoons; at siege of Yorktown, disch. 1783. Lived Perry Co., Tenn. in 6/23/1829 when he claimed pension; also in 1830.

TALLEY, John, S38426, Georgia, Montgomery Co., appl. dtd 10/18/1819; enl. 1781 as Pvt. in Capt. Parson's Co. of Va., Col. William Washington's Regt. of Lt. Dragoons; at siege of Yorktown, disch. 1783. Lived Perry Co., Tenn. in 6/23/1829 when he claimed pension; also in 1830.

TALLMAN, Benjamin, S21524, Rhode Island, Providence co., appl. dtd 7/11/1832, 89 yrs. old., stating was commissioned Maj. 11/11/1775, Col. William Richmond's R. I. Regt., 1 yr.; in several battles on Long Island. Comm. 11/24/1776 Lt. Col. of Regt. of R. I. Militia raised for 3 mos.; 1/3/1777 comm. Col. of R. I. Regt., 4 mos., when at earnest solicitations of Congress, he, being;a shipbuilder by profession, went to Conn. where he superintended the building of a frigate "Confederacy", a ship of war. Soldier d. 6/10/1836. In 1851, his son, William o.f Providence, R. I. and his grandson, William Tallman, lived R. I.

TANKERSLEY, Joseph, R20201, Georgia, Columbia Co., app1. dtd 9/16/1828, was Pvt. in Capt. James Armstrong's Co. of Lt. Horse, Col. Henry Lee's Regt. claim rejected.

TAYLOR, Jonathan, W4351, Georgia, Carroll Co., appl. of wid., Elizabeth, stating husband lived Edgefield Dist., S. C., served I in Va. Contl Line. Soldier married Joannah Morris and had children: Pleasant Taylor of Dallas Co., Ala.; Wyatt A. Taylor of Chambers Co., Ala.; Creed Taylor of Tenn.; Onan Taylor of Walton Co., Ga.; Elizabeth, the wid. of Phillip Johnson 0 f Carroll Co., Ga.; and Jacky, res. unknown.

TAYLOR, Richard C., Georgia, Wilkes Co., application dtd 5/1/1819, enl. Amelia Co., Va. 2/28/1777 as Pvt., Capt. James Foster, Col. Heth's Va. Regt.; was at battle of Brandywine, wounded in leg; also at Monmouth, disch. 2/28/1780. Enl. same day, as Pvt., Col. William Washington's Va. Regt., Capt. Cove1ey, Col. Davies' Va. Regt., at siege of Horktown, disch. 1/31/1782. In 1820 lived with son-in-law, John Todd, Morgan Co., Ga. and had wife and four children. In 1830 moved to Guilford Co., N. C.

TAYLOR, Theophilus, R10433, Georgia, Franklin Co., was b. 1759 in Va., moved to Chesterfield Co., S. C., then Franklin Co., Ga. in 1837 (now Habersham Co.), and d. 10/4/1845, leaving surviving children: William Taylor; Salley Taylor; Holcomb Taylor; Jeremiah Taylor; Hetty Holcomb and Delphia Johnson. Served 2 tours as Pvt., N. C. Troops, 1779, 3 mos. as Pvt., Capt. Vond, Col. Thomas Wade Downing, 18 mos., Capt. Thomas Webb, Col. Lacey, Gen. Wade. (when res. of Anson Co., N. C.) Was at battle of Bitty's Bridge.

TRAMMELL, Thomas, Wl1655, Georgia, Upson Co., apple of Mary f Trammell 4/20/1846, stating Thomas Trammell was b. 1747 S. C., d. I 9/22/1823 Upson Co., Ga., lived Union Dist., S. C. during war, t served as Pvt. in S. C., Capt.'s Hughes, Dickson, Trammell and [ Lawson, Col. Brandon, Col. Roebuck's S. C. Regt.; enl. spring I 1780, served throughout war. She married soldier 12/21/1775 Union Dist., S. C. (Mary Turner). Affidavit of William Turner, Henry Co., Ga., 3/21/1846, aged 68, that sd Turner removed with his father from N. C. to Union Dist., S. C., 1773 and afterwards became acquainted with Thomas Trammell, and 12/1775 deponent was present at Trammell's wedding dinner and marriage and sd Trammell and wife, Mary, lived together as man and wife; that sd Thomas res. Union Dist. til fall of 1784, and latter pt of spring 1780, sd Trammell left his home to join army, etc.
