MABRY, David, W17072, North Carolina, Wake Co., appl. dtd 8/1832, aged 80. Lived Bute Co. when first entered under Capt. Green, 2-3 yrs., marched against some troops under Capt. Fordice, encamping at Gr. Bridge, abt 10 mi. above Norfolk, 2 mos. He was then mtn. man under Col. Nicholas Long to Moores Cr. Br. to the relief of Gov. Caswell who had an engagement at the bridge where tories were defeated, 2 mos. Next, under Col. Malmady, a Frenchman, and at hearing of battle of Guilford, rendevoused at Iron Works and put in foot armies of Gen. Greene, 3 mos. Next, under Maj. Hogg going from Tarlboro to Fayetteville down Cape Fear Fiver. Then to Wilmington on scouting expedition, on guard.
MACKIE, Samuel, W7385, Georgia, Franklin Co., application dtd 5/6/1833, was b. 1761 Tyrone, Ireland; enl. as Pvt., N. C. Troops in Burke Co., N. C., served in battles of Cane Cr. and Kings Mtn. His wid., Mary, stated soldier d. 12/5/1845 Franklin Co., Ga. and she married him 4/5/1792 in Abbeville, S. C.
MAPP, John. Mary. #W3840, SC Line. He was born 1/19/1761. His wife, Mary "Molly" White was the daughter of Colonel White and she was born 7/13/1763. They were married 7/14/1784 or 1785 in Spartanburg Dist., S. C. Soldier died 3/23/1828 in Greene Co., Georgia where widow applied for pension on 5/19.1845. The father of the soldier was Littleton Mapp who removed to S. C. about the start of the Revolutionary War. He had a brother, Robert H. Mapp, of Hancock Co., Georgia, who (aged 73 years) gave his affidavit on 5/15/1845 stating that his brother, John Mapp married Mary, the daughter of Colonel Henry White on 7/30/1851. John Bonner was exr of the estate of the widow in Hancock Co.
MARTIN, Absalom, S13921, North Carolina, Carteret Co., appl. 7/22/1819, sent to Hon. Jesse Slocumb, Waynesboro, N. C. He served as Pvt. in North Carolina Regt of Colonell Lytle, 1 yr. File info. shows he d. 9/30/1828. Soldier vol. 4/1781 Carteret Co., Capt. John G. McRee, 6th Regt., Col. Lytle, 12 mos., disch. Wilmington, N. C. Was at battle of Eutaw Springs. The Ct. of Pleas & Qtr Sessions for Carteret Co. heard 8/22/1820 a statement of soldier, then aged 75, a farmer, who had 5 in family.. .Rachel, his wife, aged 75; William, his grandchild, aged 13; Jacob, his grandson, aged 12; and David, his grandson, aged 9.
MARTIN, Henry, S41791, North Carolina, Greene Co., appl. dtd 10/14/1818, aged 66; enl. Dobbs Co., N. C. abt 1776, Capt. Simon Bright, Col. Alexander Martin til end of war. Was under Gen. Lincoln at Charleston. Soldier d. 2/26/1822.
MARTIN, James, Georgia, Jackson Co. Inferior Ct. Minutes 1822-31, P. 63-66, James Martin appeared 1/1/1827, aged 67, that he enl. for 3 yrs. 5/1777 Dobbs Co., N. C., Capt. Abram Shepherd, marched to Valley Forge, Pa. Was at battles of Monmouth, Stony Pt., taken prisoner at Charleston, S. C. for 2 mos. when he escaped. He served 3 yrs. He is farmer, has wife aged 57 and dau. aged 41.
MATLER, John, North Carolina, Rowan Co., Inf. Ct. Minutes, states he enl. under Capt. Ed Yarbro, Anthony Sharpe's Co., Col. Lytle's Regt., served 2 yrs; also served 18 mos. on N. C. Line.

The widow of John McDonald Isabella, applied 5/28/1853 and stated that the soldier died on Feb 25, 1848 in Clarke County, Georgia and was born 6/21/1764 in Scotland, and married Isabella July of 1811. Isabella was born 1790. It appears that Isabella was a second wife. She lists the following children: Daniel b. 7/27/1813; Mary born 12/9/1815; Christian born 10/7/1822; Thomas Jefferson born 6/11/1826; Catrean. born 8/16/1826 and Marie Elizabeth born 7/11/1827. McMAHAN, Redman, R6785, Tennessee, Warren Co., application dtd 10/20/1834, aged 103 on 1st day of last Jan. He enl. spring 1775 in S. C., he believes from Craven Dist., Capt. Francis Marion, Capt. Butler. He has no fixed place of residence, but lives about with his children. Robert Brown testifies 9/24/1835, Warren Co., that he has known pensioner for 20 yrs. and Thomas Brown testified on 1/16/1836, Warren Co., that he saw Redman McMahan at Charleston at battle of Sullivan's Isl. and has known him in Warren Co. for 27-8 yrs.
McKISSACK, Thomas, 10/14/1802 Isaac Hudson of Chester Co., s. C. appeared in Person Co., N. C. swearing that on 5/3/1776 he enl. in 3rd N. C. ContI Battn of Col. Jethro Sumner, Capt. Jacob Turner and that Thomas McKissack enl. on same day, and served 2- 1/2 yrs. That McKissack was in battle of Germantown 10/1777, where he was wounded in right shoulder and carried off to hospital called Redding where he continued for sometime, then returned to headquarters at Valley Forge, Pa. John Christian of Chatham Co., N. C. also testified he saw McKissack at battle of Germantown a few minutes after he received a wound in right shoulder and saw McKissack carried off to a hospital. McLEAN, William, swears at Salisbury, N. C. 9/26/1800 that he served as Pvt. Militiaman and was wounded in battle of Ramsour, by which use his right arm was partially lost. Alexander Worke and John Huggins of Rowan Co., N. C. testified that McLean was militia soldier in 6/1780 and at battle of Ramsour Mills where he was wounded by a ball in the joint of his right arm, which has rendered him disabled. McMILLAN, John, S16463, Georgia, Habersham Co., appl. dtd 4/1834, aged 94; enl. Pittsylvania Co., Va. 3 mos., fall of 1776/1777. His appl'. dtd 1832 is in Franklin Co., Ga., aged 72. He marched to Guil,ford Co., N. C. to fight tories, gone abt 3 mos.; again vol. 1780, marched lower part of Pittsylvania Co., Va. and Caswell Co., N. C. after Lord Cornwallis; then to Guilford Ct. Hse. where wounded in battle, pursued COrnwallis near Wilmington where he was disch., served 6 mos. Again drafted, 2 mos., latter part of 1781, marched lower part of Va., serving in all 14 mos. Soldier was b. Caswell Co., N. C. 1760, remaining in Va. til 1814 or 1815 when he moved to Stokes Co., N. C., then Franklin Co. Ga.
MEAD, Israel, S2814, New York, Tioga Co., Candor, appl. dtd 7/27/1832, was b. 8/1754; lived Stamford, Bennington Co., Vt. when enl. as Pvt. 10/1/1774, Col. John Paterson (minuteman), Capt. Samuel Sloan Mase' Co.; enl. 4/23/1795 same co., Col. Samuel Brewer's Mass. Regt., served til 1/1/1776; enl. 8*15*1776 3-1/2 mos., Capt. Peter Porter, Col. Samuel Brewer's Mass. Regt.; 7/.10/1777, served 32 days, Capt. Samuel Robinson, Col. Moses Robinson's Vt. Regt.; 8/13/1777, 6 days, Lt. George Lamb, same Regt. In 1837 soldier lived Erie Co., Pa. with son.
MEAD, Jeremiah, S36119, Connecticut, Fairfield Co., Ridgefield, appl. dtd 4/11/1818; enl. 2/1/1777 as Pvt., Capt. Ezekiel Sanford, Col. Philip B. Bradley's 5th Conn. Regt., disch. 2/1/1780. Soldier was aged 66 in 1820, wife, Betty, aged 65. He d. 11/24/1840.
MILAM, John, Jr., W9951, Georgia, Madison Co., was b. 6/12/1753 Brunswick Co., Va., enl. 1776 as Pvt., Capt. Nathaniel Cocke, Col. Nelson's "7" Va. Regt. as Orderly Sgt., in battle on island below Little York, later marched to Valley Forge; in skirmish on Schuykill, disch. after 2 yrs. Enl., 4 mos., as Pvt., Capt. Edmond King, Maj. Alexander Rose, Va. Troops, at siege of 96. Soldier d. 10/26/1838 Madison Co., Va. Wid., Polly, testified she was Polly Ailison and married John Milam, Jr. in 1813.
MILLER, David, North Carolina, Lincoln Co., names his atty, Peter Hoyle, Esq. of Lincoln Co. to collect pension as invalid soldier for 1808, signed 11/4/1808. In 1806 Miller stated he served as soldier in Rev. War under Col. William Polk and was disabled by several wounds which he received at a battle near a place called Horse Shoe. MILLER, George, W257l2, Massachusetts, Ludlow, was b. 5/13/1759 Ludlow; was Pvt., drummer boy, 9 mos., joining at age of 17, served in Regt. of his father, Capt. Joseph Miller, 11th Co., 1st Regt. of Hampshire Co., Mass. Militia. Wid., Mary, states husband d. 9/14/1829 Ludlow, Mass. and she was Mary J. Parsons when she married soldier in 1803.
MILLER, Matthew, Affidavit of William Davidson that Matthew Miller was pensioned by Legislature at 1825 Session and is now alive and res. of Mecklenburg Co., N. MILLER, William, Georgia, Ware Co., application dated before Inf. Ct. 10/31/1833, aged 74; vol. 1779, Capt. Frederick Harget, later Col., Craven Co., N. C., Gen. Caswell, in militia, sta. Wilmington, N. C., abt a mo., returned home to Craven Co.; a few mos. later drafted in N. C. Militia, 4 mos., to defend Charleston under Capt. Blanks, 2d Regt.; served 2 mos., N. C. Militia, Capt. William George, Col. Harget. He was b. 4/8/1759 Craven Co., N. C. (now Jones Co.) and lived there til he moved to Ga. abt 1785 or 1790, coming to Ga. with David Blackshear, a native of same co., who had known him since his birth, now being Gen. Blackshear of Laurens Co., Ga. Deponent lived Burke Co., Ga. 10-15 yrs.; Bulloch Co. 20-25 yrs.; 4 yrs. in Ware Co., Ga.
MILLICAN, Andrew, R7235, Georgia, Madison Co., wid.'s pension appl. states she was Lettice Clegman who married Andrew Millican 1778 in Rutherford Co., N. C. and husband d. 1/29/1830 Madison Co., Ga. His res. during Rev. was Wilmington and Salisbury Dist.'s N. C., enl. 1776 or 1777 in N. C. as Pvt., Capt. Cowan, Col. Hampton, N. C. Troops; was in battle of Kings Mtn. They moved to Ga. after the war, to Madison Co., Ga.
MILLS, James, W23134, Maine, Bethel, appl. dtd 10/23/1846, lived Newton, Middlesex Co., Mass. when enl. in 1776, 1 yr., in Col. Greaton's Mass. Regt. Was at White Plains and Princeton. Enl. 4/2/1778, 3 mos., 2 days as Pvt., Capt. Nathaniel Heath's Co., Col. Jonathan Reed's Mass. Regt.; enl. 9/30/1778, 3 mos., 1 day, as Pvt., Capt. Abel Richards, Col. Jonathan Coggewe:ll's Mass. Regt.; enl. 2/24/1779 til 5/23/1779 as Pvt. ,in Capt. Nathaniel Heath's Co. In 1779 or 1780 served Capt. Tisdale, Col. Greaton. During war he moved to N. H., served N. H. Troops. Soldier married 2/7/1782 Dublin, N. H., Hannah Mason. Soldier d. Bethel, Oxford Co., Maine summer of 1798. The wid., Hannah, married Elijah Grove, who d. 1805. James Mills and Hannah had dau., Mrs. Deborah Harden.
MORRISON, Alexander, North Carolina, Cumberland Co., Ct. of Pleas & Qtr Sessions 9/1827, Ann Morrison, wid. of Alexander, decd, a soldier in army of Rev. who was wounded in ham and received honorable disch., stating she is now old, infirm and poor and is a fit and proper object to place on pension list of this State. John Elliot; was in skirmish with British and Hessians on Staten Island; enl. 10/10/1776, 4 mos., Capt. Thomas Askey, joined Gen. Washington, crossed Delaware and was in battles of Trenton and Princeton; served 2 mos. in 1777, Capt. Robert Samuel, Col. Archibald Buchanan's Pa. Regt.; 3 mos. in 1778 at Ft. Carmichael, Col. James Armstrong. Soldier moved in 1785 to Lycoming Co., Pa. and in 1800 to Warren Co., Pa.
MORTON, Oliver, W1913, Georgia, Jones Co., was b. Boston 9/5/1763, soldier and sailor in Mass. Militia, served onboard brigatine Independence, Capt. Simeon Samson 4/27/1776-7/5/1777 as "Boy". Wid., Sarah, appl. stating her husband d. Jones Co., Ga. 7/31/1828. She was Sarah Everett, b. Ashe Co., N. C. 6/10/1770, married 1788 Oliver Morton. Husband was in battle against British brigatine ship Hope near Halifax, Nova Scotia, 7 mos., and taken to R. I. and N. Y. He escaped on Long Island Sound and going to Plymouth, substituted for his father, Silas Morton, in Mass. Militia under Capt. Partridge.
MORTON, Thomas, North Carolina, Wake Co., 2/16/1807, William Peck, J. P., testified that Thomas Morton of Montgomery Co. had appeared before him and under oath stated Morton was placed on pension list of N. C. by Act of Assembly in 1805. He served in ContI Line of N. C. 18 mos., Capt. Thompson, and was wounded in both his legs at battle of Guilford Ct. Hse. Morton appeared in 1806 in Montgomery Co. and named his commander as Capt. MOSBY, Wade, W3856, Virginia, Powhatan Co., appl. dtd 2/23/1833, was b. 1760, enl. as Pvt., then Lt., then Capt. in Va., apptd Capt. 3/23/1779 and organized a co. in Va. Continental Army. Soldier d. 6/1/1834 Powhatan Co., Va. He married 1785 Susannah Truehart.
