LAMBERT, John

LARIMORE, James, served N. C. Militia, Gen. Ashe, and was disabled by wound received in right arm and another in right side in battle of Brier Cr., sworn before David, J. P. of Guilford Co. In 1807, Larimore lived Stokes Co., N. C. and described himself as a wounded soldier who fought in battle of Brier Cr., Ga. between detachment of militia under Maj. Gen. Ashe and British forces in 1779. He was shot through body and right arm which was broken, thereby rendered incapable of performing the business of his trade as blacksmith, "he not having the benefit of the smallest education." James Stewart of Guilford Co. swore that he served with Larimore in N. C. Militia, same co. under Capt. james Shepard and was with Larimore at battle of Brier Cr. when Larimore wounded, etc. John Dunlap testified he was with Larimore in Col. Archibald Lytle's Regt. of Inf. and saw Larimore bleeding and one of his arms hanging down, and that the next morning after the battle, he saw Larimore in wagon and found him wounded in arm and side, at time his woundes had not been dressed, sworn 2/19/1801, Guilford Ct. LEACH, Richard, North Carolina, Rowan Co., Court of Pleas & Qtr Sessions, sd Leach enl. 1775 N. J. under Capt. W. Perhamas, 1st N. C. Regt., Col. John Connowan, 23 mos.; enl. 18 mos., Capt. Peter Voras, same regt., disch. 1779. Was in battles of Long Island, White Plains, Monmouth and Springfield.

LEVERETT, Thomas, W4264, Georgia, Troup Co., apple dtd 1/13/1845, Mrs. Mary G. Leverett, aged 73 on 3/25/1845, stating husband lived Wilkes Co., Ga. at beginning of Rev., served til latter pt of 1779. He was in skirmishes and guarded the neighborhood and frontiers against indian tories and British. In 1780 vol. at Columbia Ct. Hse. in Ga., Capt. John Clark, Col. Elijah Clarke, as Pvt. of Inf. and Cavalry in Ga. Militia, 18 mos. 6/1781 at siege of Augusta, 10-15 days, later her husband disch. Afterwards, he enl.3 yrs. in Ga. Contl Line. She married him 7/3/1789, Wilkes Co., Ga. where they resided and moved to Putnam Co., and lived there 19 yrs., then Troup Co. where soldier d. 6/8/1834. In 1846, Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford, wife of David, stated that Thomas Leverett married the 1st time, her own aunt and married 2d 7/3/1789 Wilkes Co., Mary G. Griffin, b. 3/25/1772, living in Wilkes Co., Ga. with her mother and stepmother. In 1846 wid. lived with son, Gideon, in Troup Co., Ga. and Myrtilla, dau. of Thomas and Mary G. Leverett, was wife of Thomas Black (latter aged 50 living in Tallapoosa Co., Ala.)

LEWIS, George, R6314, Georgia, Tattnall Co., apple dtd 10/9/1832, was b. Duplin Co., N. C. 1759, the record of which is with his bro. in Early Co., Ga., aged 73, states he entered service 1779 under a draft of Co. of Richmond Co., Ga., Capt. Bostick and marched to headquarters on Spirit Cr. where sta. 3 mos. under Col. Twiggs; then joined Capt. Grant's Rifle Co. and marched to Buckhead Cr. in Burke Co., Ga.; from there to Ebenezer in Effingham Co., 2 mos. under Gen. Wayne; dismissed verbally. He went to Burke Co. til war was over in 1783, having served 3-4 yrs. Was res. of Richmond Co., Ga. when drafted, and since Rev. has lived Tattnall Co., Ga. for past 14 yrs.

LEWIS, Peter, Georgia, Henry Co., appl. dtd 2/13/1828 before Henry Courty co., aged 77, that he enl. 1777 in N. C., Capt. Benjamin Williams, Col. Alexander Martin's N. C. Regt., N. C. Line, served til Col. Alexander resigned, when he was disch. at Newton, N. C. near close of war. Vol., served 3 mos., N. C. Militia, Capt. O'Neal and while performing that tour, the tories broke the locks on his house and destroyed all his papers and his discharg~ amongst them, as well as all the clothing he had, except that which he was wearing. His claim on file Henry Co., states he was b. 1751 in N. C. and "in order to be placed on pension list under Act of 18 March 1818, State of Ga., on 13th Feb. 1828 appeared in Open Court, Peter Lewis, Resident of said county, aged 77 yrs. old " Soldier d. 6/29/1829 Henry Co., Ga.
