Glenn, Luther J., Colonel is dead, aged 69, on 6/9. He was born in Washington Co., near Sandersville, raised in Henry County, near McDonough, enter University in Athens in 1842 and was in the same class with T. R. R. Cobb. He married Miss Mildred Cobb, daughter of Hon. Howell Cobb and moved to McDonough. He entered the war as Captain of Stephen's Rifles in Cobb's Georgia Legion, and was shot through the left arm at the battle of Fredericksburg. He represented Fulton County in both branches of the legislature. He was the father of six children, four of whom survive him, and two who are buried in Oconee Cemetery, Athens. his living children are: J. S. Glenn, Howell C. Glenn, O. J. Glenn and Mrs. L. S. Googer, M. D. L., Sheriff, of Taliaferro County, died 4/24. He was born in this county March 28, 1828, and was 58 years old. He entered the Confederate Army as a Private in Co. D, 49th Georgia Regt., Capt. W. F. Holding commanding. He was in many of the hard-fought battles in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, and was captured at the historic battle of Gettysburg. His comrades say that a braver and cooler soldier in battle never enlisted in army of the south. He was promoted for gallant and faithful service to the position of lieutenant in his company.
