His nephew, Mr. James Keyes of Des Moines, arrived Sunday and will accompany Mrs. Dennis to the home of her sister in that city where Mr. Dennis will be laid to rest. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis came to Marietta on account of the mild climate for the benefit of their health. Mr. Dennis was about seventy-two years old. He was an Episcopalian and a brief service was held by Rev. E. S. Doan, rector of St. James Tuesday afternoon, before the department of Mrs. Dennis and Mr. Keys for Des Moines. (Leave invalid wife). Dupree, Jeremiah died in Houston County in his 84th year. He was born in Brunswick County, Virginia on 16 Nov 1754, a Huguenot descendant. He entered the Revolutionary War at the age of 16 and was wounded by a cannonball at the Guilford Court House. He settled in Washington County in 1791. Moved to Twiggs County in 1808 and in 1826 to Houston County. Leaves 75 children and great-grandchildren. 8 Sept 1838, The Southern Christian Advocate.
