Hampton, Martha of Macon was taken to the asylum in Milledgeville 8/2/1886. She was about65 years old and had been crazy for 26 years, but had grown worse redcently. The causewas religion. The Constitution, Atlanta 8/6/1886

Hendrix, David. "State of Georgia, Cobb County. To Justice of Inferior Court: Petition of Mrs. Chira Hendrix showeth that David Hendrix of said county is lunatic; and is going at large, with a guardian...she petitions that he be committed to the asylum." 23 February 1866. "Verdict: We the jury find the issue in favor of the plaintiff...David Hendrix is an insane man and is not possessed of any property by inheritance. Signed:: W. W. Carroll, Foreman; W. E. Dunwoody, M. G.; W. R. Montgomery; J. R. Gilbert; W. W. Simpson; L. Bennett and W. F. Groves." Page 9-10. JUDGMENT that David Hendrix be committed to the lunatic asylum of this state by sheriff or his depty...thatthe said David Hendrix is a pauper and unable to pay any portion of expenses of his keeping in said asylum...Ordered costs to be paid forattending this case.

Minutes of Cobb Inferior Court for Civil Proceedings (1869), page 6. Hodges, Fannie declared insane in Macon. Judge McMannes summoned a jury of twelve men totry the case at the jail house, where the woman was. J. J. Clay was selected as foreman, andDr. L. L. Johnson as examining physician. When she saw the men, she said that she knewwhat all these men were there fore....they were going to put her heart back in its place.Taken to the State asylum 8/6/1886.
