Bale Bible of Kansas

"The Bale Bible was purchased at a flea market in Kansas City, MO. The front cover and the first 40 pages are missing. In the Bible are two letters - (1st) dated 16 May 1875 from Petersbury; addressed to kind and very dear mother; signed, John Goff, to his deer Mother Ann Bale; speaks of working at Wm. Morrises brick yard at 35 dollars per month; speaks of 4 solid months of winter and only being 100 miles from where snow is 3 fee deep, "so states the papers in Chicago and Baltimore and Boston". (2nd) dated June the 25th, 1871; addressed to Dear Father and mother; requests that they "direct your letters to Leonard G. Bale, New Allany, Indiana". These letters along with the Bale Bible is in our library."
