The lineage of the Waller family of Virginia is traced to Allured de Waller who died in 1183. The first to settle in Virginia was Colonel George Waller.
John Waller, son of Colonel George and Ann W. Waller, was born 1765 in Spotsylvania County. He was married to Polly Cooper in 1790; died near Horsepasture, Henry County, Virginia in 1842. Issue:

- George Waller, born 1782, married Eliza Finley Waller. Issue:

- George E. Waller, physician, born 1838; graduated from the Medical College of Virgina; resided in Martinsville. During the War Between the States he was a hospital steward in the 24th Virginia Infantry and was with Generals Pickett and Longstreet until the end of the war. He was married to Sarah Louise Putzel, daughter of Sigmund and Mary Putzrel. Issue:

- Mary McCauley Waller married G. F Kuykendall of Romney, West Virginia.
- Jean Waller married George Clark.
- George Crawford Waller, resided in Martinsville.
- Edward Waller, graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1900.

- Elizabeth Waller, born cca 1786, married Jacob McCraw of Patrick County; removed to Surry, North Carolina.
- Edmund Waller, born 1777, married Marie Duncan in Kingston, Tennessee. He served during the War of 1812, and afterwards made his homme at Wallers Ford where he died in 1817. Issue:
- Eliza Finley Waller married George Waller.
- Ann Winston Waller married Dandridge Morris.
- Narcissus Jane Waller, unmarried.
- Malinda Waller married Burwell Bassett.
