The first known Wade to Virginia from England was Daniel Wade of Surry County, Virginia who petitioned (in 1656) Lieutenant Governor Francis Nicholson to remit a fine which had, according to law, been imposed for replanting tobacco after the first of July, the penalty being a fine of 10,000 pounds of tobacco.
The old vestry books of Antrim Parish (1752-1753) the names of Edward and Andrew Wade occur. Two brothers, George and Robert Wade, went to Halifax County, and the families there descend from them.
Robert Wade was born 1690/1700 in Virginia, died ca 1770 in Halifax County. Wife, Elizabeth. Issue:Edward Wade was born ca 1727 in Halifax County, Virginia, died Nov 1790 Greene Co., Ga. In 1768 Edward Wade and Mary Wade and James Wade purchased for 20 pounds, 175 acres on both sides of the Frying Pan Creek, being part of an original grant to Timothy Dalton. Also, that same year,Edward Wade sold 226 acres of land to Stephen Bennett, his son-in-law, on both sides of Frying Pan Creek adj. James Wade. Wit: Benjamin Clement.

In 1777, Edward Wade, Sr., Daniel (or David) Wade, Edward Wade, Jr. and Peyton Wade signed the Oath of Allegiance in Pittsylvania Co., Va., Edward and Peyton having served in the Pittsylvania County Militia under Capt. Wilcher. His brother, James, was also in the 6th Va. Regt., but was killed during the war. They were listed on the List of Tithables for that year.
He married Mary Clements ca 1755 of Pittsylvania Co., Va (born 1730 Pittsylvania Co., Va., d. 1790/1792 Greene Co., Ga).
The History of Halifax County, Virginia, p. 110, Edward and Mary Wade of Virginia...A reference to Edward Wade by a grandson in after years all alludes to him as an English scout and hunter. Another grandson (James Daniel Easley) wrote: My grandfather on my mother's side was named Mary Clemons. They were both born and raised in Virginia. He went on to say that David Wade and his wife, Agnes, named a son, Edward Wade, and that Mary Clements had the following children:

VI. Anne Wade was born 1760/1770 Pittsylvania Co., Va., d. after 1830 Madison Co., Ga. m. John Williams, Sr., son of Jesse Williams and Martha, on 11 Nov 1788 in Greene Co., Ga. John Williams d. Jul 1849 Madison Co., Ga., his LWT dated 29 May 1843, probated Jul 1849, Madison Co., Ga. Book B (1842-95), p. 45-6, naming wife: Frances, and children: Robert Williams, Eliza Williams, Birdy Williams, Nancy Williams, Ann Bradley, Elsey Strickland, Dolly Thompson. Also named the children of his deceased daughter, Sally Bone, i.e.: William Russell, Allen Bone and Jasper Bone.

VIII. Mary Wade was born 17 Mar 1761 Halifax Co., Va, d. 13 Aug 1829 m. Thomas Burford who died 1795 in Halifax Co., Va.
IX. David Wade was b. 1770/1780 Pittsylvania Co., Va., d. 1830/1840 Hall Co., Ga m. Agnes Wade.
