Venable from Louisa, Hanover and Campbell Counties
Abraham Venable emigrated from England to Virginia in 1685. He was married in 1699 to Elizabeth, a daughter of Hugh Lewis of James City County.
Abraham Venable, Jr., son of Abraham, married Martha, a daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Hughes) Davis of Amherst County. He was a staunch supporter of Patrick Henry and serve as county-lieutenant of Louisa County for 20 years; also a member of the House of Burgesses. He was also a member of the Virginia Yazoo Company.
William Venable, son of Abraham Jr., was one of those who nominated Patrick Henry as a candidate for the House of Burgess in 1765.
John Venable, son of William, married Agnes, a daughter of Charles Moorman of Louisa County. He was a Quaker and one of the first persons in Louisa County to free his slaves. In 1784 the estate of Thomas Farland sold to John Venable 300 acres which had been conveyed to Farland by Lady Mary Read, located on both sides of the Seneca Creek.John removed to Georgia in 1791.
