Tuggle of Henry and Patrick Counties
William Tuggle was born 5 June 1699 in Exeter, England and migrated to America in 1734.
Henry Tuggle, a descendant, was married to Lucy Anne Elizabeth Moir of Patrick County. They settled in Patrick
County where Tuggle served as a clerk of the court of the court and sheriff. Issue:
- James E. Tuggle, died young.
- Henry Irvine Tuggle, resided in Martinsville where he was a postmaster and school teacher. He was married to Nora
Clark, daughter of Dr. George R. Clark of Patrick County. Issue:
- Lucy Anne Tuggle, removed to Oakland, California.
- Aubrey Tuggle married (1) Addie W. Garrett (2) Katherine Wheatly of Danville, Virginia.
- Harry Gordon Tuggle, married Toccoa Gray of Laurens, South Carolina, resided in Danville.
- Elizabeth Tuggle, resident of Martinville.
- Carolyn Clark Tuggle, married Dr. A. M. Gall, removed to Oakland, California.
- James E. Tuggle.
- Irvine Tuggle, married Margaret Roper of Sumter, South Carolina.
- Thomas A. Tuggle.
- Mary E. Tuggle, married Reverdy J. Scales of Patrick County; removed to Richmond, Virginia.
- John William Tuggle, married Mary Putzel, daughter of Sigmund Putzel of Martinsville; removed to Portsmouth,
Virginia.

- Robert Emmett Tuggle, resided in Martinsville.
- Walter Lee Tuggle.
- Carrie M. Tuggle, married Mr. Hudspeth.
