Pannill Family of Henry County
The Pannills of Virginia supposingly descend from the Pennells of England and Ireland. When Cromwell rose in power inn Parliament, three members of the family emigrated to Maryland, Norfolk, Virginia and Rappahannock, Virginia. General J. E. B. Stuart was descended from the Rappahannock branch.
Thomas Pannill settled along the Rappahannock River, but his property was sold by his son (William Pannill). Thomas married Frances Mills. Issue:
- William H. Pannill married Sarah Bailey of Middlesex County, Virginia. Issue:
- William Pannill married Ann Morton. Issue:
- Morton Pannill married Mary Johns of Lynchburg.
- David Pannill.
- Samuel Pannill, died unmarried.
