The Norsworthy family seat appears to have been in Devon, England. Norsworthy or Notsworthy is a village in the Parish of Widecombe on the Moor in Devon. The arms of the Norsworthy of Devon were "Per gale gu. and or, a chevron and a pile enjoined in point at the top of the chevron, all countercharged."
Tristram Norsworthy patented 200 acres in Nansemond County on 5 June 1639 towards the head of a bay behind the Ragged Islands; also 150 acres near Daniel Godkin for his own personal adventure and that of his wife, Ann, and a servant. He served as Burgess for Upper Norfolk or Nansemond in 1641. Issue:
- George Norsworthy, Colonel, was mentioned in Bacons Rebellion. He was a Captain of the militia and sheriff in Nansemond County. His last will and testament dated 1 Feb 1700, probated 1705. Issue:
